Webcomic / Deathclaw Desu Ga

Go To

Deathclaw Desu Ga is a comedic web comic about Albino Deathclaw later accompanied characters.

In a vault in a post apocalyptic future a little monster girl is doing the things she does; eating cram, forcing locks, and giving out hugs!

This webcomic provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Villainy: The Mysterious Stranger is a hunter looking to make the wasteland safer one kill at a time, which includes Alpha, putting him in a more malevolent light as he never attacks without the player summoning him. He's also anti-synth, as opposed to his lack of care in the main series as to who he kills.
  • Adorably Precocious Child: Despite being a Deathclaw, Alpha acts like an innocent, very excitable child. She's genuinely sweet girl, but her real size often causes harm.
  • Big Eater: Alpha eats a lot, to the point she often can't concentrate on anything else. And if there is not enough cram, she will try to eat you. She's a Deathclaw after all.
  • Bottle Episode: The webcomic mostly takes place in Vault 119, aside from pre-war flashbacks and occasional scenes outside of the wasteland. Justified as Alpha can't really leave the vault, being an Albino and all.
  • Colorblind Confusion: Alpha can't see green. When Sherman asks her to push a green button, she pushes the red button instead, and she expresses immense fear of Super Mutants being mentioned as green because she wouldn't be able to see them.
  • Cuddle Bug: Alpha's favorite form of affection is hugs. That said, these hugs cause major damage due to Alpha being a Deathclaw.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Alpha thinks she's just a young girl with the same strength to match, but she's really a Deathclaw. While she does use her strength to skip lockpicks, she does often forget how strong she is.
  • Double Standard: The Radroaches are all sex-crazy, and love Grubtoberfest, the day they all make love to the Queen for reproduction. When they become Queen, however, they suddenly find Grubtoberfest a lot less appealing.
  • Dramatic Irony: Alpha fears the idea of fighting Super Mutants upon learning that she can't see them. This has two layers of irony; Super Mutants are much weaker than Deathclaws, and Super Mutants with invisibility abilities do exist in canon, but their skin has turned dark blue from Stealth Boy use.
  • The Faceless: The Mysterious Stranger always faces away from the camera, obscuring his face. His face is finally shown in 177, revealing that he's covered in scars. Once he gets a Mechanist Helmet, he starts facing the screen more as his face is obscured.
  • Face of a Thug: Double Subverted. To the audience, Alpha looks like a little chibi girl and she certainly acts the part. From other characters' point of view, she's an Albino friggin Deathclaw. That said, her actions mostly point her as being benign.
  • Gender Bender: When the Queen Radroach dies, another will become Queen in her stead, which includes a switch of sex.
  • Master of Unlocking: Alpha... is not one, no matter how much she tries. Delta on the other hand...
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Nearly all the characters in the Fallout 4 fan comic Deathclaw Desu Ga are shown as Cute Monster Girls/boys. The cast consists of an Intelligent Albino Deathclaw, several Radroaches, a broken-down Robobrain with a goldfish living in "her" brain module, and the goldfish himself. However, it does the Calvin and Hobbes thing where different characters are percieved diffetently. For example, the Deathclaw looks like a 12-year old girl with horns and a tail to the audience, but to Redeye at the time he invaded her vault, looks like a regular Albino Deathclaw. While only shown once, the Robobrain sees herself as a fish-hat-wearing girl in a wheelchair. The Radroaches, to each other, look like blond Bishounen in bug costumes; except for their Queens, a Glowing One and a Sassy Black Woman respectively, and like giant cockroaches to the Deathclaw and Robobrain. Finally, the goldfish looks a Latino man in a gaudy lounge suit to the radroach queen, and a fish to everyone else. The only characters who don't get in on this are Mirelurks and bloatflies.
  • Race Lift: The common Radroach is depicted as a white male, while queens are black women. One Radroach gets to become a queen, which includes the change in race. One of the Radroaches mutated later on gains a darker skin tone, while another becomes a queen.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: An Albino Deathclaw that loves hugs and friendship, a crazy Jerkass robobrain that was once the Overseer of the vault and a sex-crazy Sassy Black Woman Glowing Radroach Queen make up the main trio.
  • Red Baron: To the Radroach Kingdom of Sto'Rage Roo'm two slash, Alpha is known as the Great White Death.
  • Skewed Priorities: Sherman throws away a G.E.C.K. after being sealed away in a room. You know, an incredibly rare terraforming tool and the primary macguffin of Fallout 2 and 3? That said, she is a Jerkass and a robot, so she doesn't find a way to use the G.E.C.K. for herself.
  • Tempting Fate: When Alpha accidentally activates a security bot, Sherman realizes that she can take the treads off of it and attain movement. Not only does the security bot not have treads, it's the robot horse she made long ago.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Alpha loves Cram. Justified, that in her Vault, there is not any other kind of food. Unless you count radroaches.
  • Visual Pun: Puppy realizes her mistake in killing the old queen just as she's being spritzed with water from a pipe. She had a shower thought.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Alpha is horrible at lockpicking. So she just tears open whatever she needs to lockpick with her massive claws.
