Out with the old, in with the new.

After Spill went down due to its parent company's budget cuts, many on the Internet thought it was the end for Korey and the gang. But, as Korey made clear, It Ain't Going Down Like That!!! One Kickstarter campaign and $134,000 later, Double Toasted became the phoenix that arose from Spill's ashes.

Aside from the usual movie reviews, there were some of the old shows, albeit with different names. A Couple of Cold Ones became The Weekly Roast and Toast, Let's Do This! became The Sunday Service, and The Loading Bar became The High Score (and later 8-Bit Crumbs). Of course, the main people involved are Korey Coleman and Martin Thomas, there is a supporting cast of new critics thrown into the mix.

The groups rating system is the same as it was back when they were still Spill and is as follows:

• Fuck You!!! - An unofficial rating, the equivalent of the Better Than Sex rating for bad films. These films are so bad to the point of being offensive to the viewers and the DT crew, often in more ways than one.
• Some 'Ol Bullshit! - Films that are poorly made, or films that are simply bad but doesn't offend the viewers in any way.
• Rental - A subjective rating, usually it refers to a movie that is not good enough to see at a theater but is not terrible. Sometimes it just refers to a movie that can be viewed better at home (such as a horror movie or a comedy).
• Matinee! - Entertaining films with some jarring flaws that doesn't justify paying full price for, but still worth seeing at the theater.
• Full Price!! - Genuinely good films according to current standard, has little to no flaws.
• Better than Sex! - The Broke the Rating Scale rating, given for films which are beyond the expectation for a good film and magnificently set a new cinematic standard.

Tropes associated with the Double Toasted crew:

• Animals Lack Attributes:
  • Martin complained about this trope in Zootopia, which Korey immediately jumped on.
  • When the trope was averted in The Secret Life of Pets, Korey suggested it as the reason why Martin gave the movie a Full Price.
• Berserk Button:
  • For Korey, Alvin and the Chipmunks. He's still ranting about it in the review for Paddington 2.
  • Double for Korey again during the Yoga Hosers review. Especially in regards to nepotism and talented directors who put no effort in making a good film while aspiring filmmakers who do get overlooked.
  • For the whole group, Dawson Casting, especially when the supposed "teenagers" are visibly older than the actual teenagers around them.
  • Triple for Korey, offending his family in any way will not be taken lightly.
  • Child abuse, as shown by the crew's reaction to the daddyofive controversy.
  • While they all seem to have their own individual Berserk Button's, the one thing that collectively pisses them all off is any and all stereotypical depictions of Texas.
• Boomerang Bigot: Referenced when Martin makes a racist joke about Leslie Jones in Ghostbusters (2016).
  Korey: Excuse my racist—my self-hating black friend over here.
• The Bus Came Back: After much lobbying from former Spillios and current Toasties, Tony Guerrero, better known as Spill.com’s resident robot reviewer Co-Host 3000, came back in the form of the BRAND NEW Sidekick 3K for Halloween 2017’s Super Secret Spooktacular Savings Special. Korey claims that after Co-Host was deactivated following the closure of Spill.com, he managed to pick up Co-Host’s most important parts, cobbled together a new robot body for him and reactivated him at the beginning of the show. As use of Co-Host’s previous floating head form would infringe on now copyrighted material, Korey incorporated these vital parts with a toaster, fitting into the toast theme of Double Toasted. Sidekick’s return was greeted with much applause and only time will tell if he will come back and stay for good.
• The Cameo: As of October 28th, 2017, the remaining members of the Spill.com Crew have appeared on the site at one point or another.
  • Chris Cox, formerly known as the comic book-loving geek Cyrus, now runs OneofUs.net and pops in every so often, notably on the Live-Action Adaptation of Beauty and the Beast (2017) review.
  • C. Robert Cargill, known as the snarky Carlyle, has become a Hollywood screenwriter after retiring from Spill in 2011 (although even then he popped up for the review of Sinister, which he co-wrote). He made further appearance on DT during the Sunday Service for Sinister 2 and an interview for Doctor Strange (2016), which he also co-wrote.
  • Tony Guerrero, Spill.com’s Co-Host 3000, stayed in the shadows for almost four years. Guerrero didn’t transfer over to Double Toasted or One of Us and instead admirably chose to take care of his ailing parents, though word has it that they are in much better health. Guerrero, a reviewer dating back to Spill’s predecessor, The Reel Deal, when he was fresh out of high school, exclusively did reviews and the “Let’s Do This!” podcast with Korey on Spill until 2010, where he joined the rest of the crew and his presence on the site increased, which led to him becoming a fan favorite sitewide. Guerrero silently popped up and was videoed by fans at Double Toasted events, one including him dancing at Korey and Mia’s wedding, and even in a video on the site’s Facebook page, where he and Korey drunkenly address his absence and voices his support of the new site. Fans finally got what they wanted during Halloween 2017’s Super Secret Spooktacular Savings Special, where Guerrero was revived as the Sidekick 3K.
• Caustic Critic: Korey becomes this at times, most notably with Jem and the Holograms (2015) and Yoga Hosers
  Korey: I paid for this shit! I paid 11.22! I know how many cents I paid, I paid 11.22 for me, I paid 11.22 for my girlfriend, I mean fiancee, I paid 11.22 for her fucking friends because I was drunk and high! I paid because one of the dudes was Canadian so I was like let me do you a favor! I paid 11.22 for him! *points at Goodwin* I paid almost 50 fucking dollars out of my pocket to give this a fair shake. I paid 50 dollars to say FUCK YOU then.
• Comedic Sociopathy: As demonstrated in the Trailer Talk for The LEGO Batman Movie, where Alfred startles Batman and pays the customary penalty for doing so.
  Korey: When he knocked the fuck outta Alfred, I said, "I love this! I love it!"
• Devil's Advocate: Martin acts as this when he and Korey have different opinions on the subject matter at hand.
• Does This Remind You of Anything?: In their review of Avengers: Age of Ultron, they treated the Hulk's being Brought Down to Normal by the Black Widow like a guy who "finished" way too early.
• Dude, Not Funny!: Team Double Toasted's reaction to the entire daddyofive controversy.
• Everyone Has Standards: While showing a clip of Mickey and Minnie Mouse twerking, Korey notes the unamused expressions of three children watching.
  Korey: Even the kids know, "This is so fucking wrong." One of them kids is trying to retreat up into that fucking bouncy castle...
• Excuse Plot: As noted in the Gods of Egypt review:
  Korey: We're here for the special effects, so let this dude come in, take over, and then we'll move on with him being evil.
• Fantastic Racism: Since the majority of the cast has had experience with the real deal, they're usually the first to make a connection when something they review contains this trope. Generally Played for Laughs, especially when it came to Zootopia.
• Heterosexual Life-Partners: Korey and Martin.
• Incredibly Lame Pun: Martin is known for throwing these out sometimes.
• I Need a Freaking Drink: Korey admits to showing up to some screenings drunk and/or high, usually when he's anticipating the movie sucking. There's a "No Drinking" rule on the show itself, but Korey makes an exception to swig some whiskey to get himself through the Nine Lives review. Girts is visibly worried and casts an Aside Glance or two while remarking on Korey's alcohol intake.
• Insult to Rocks: Korey thought Kinky was so bad that comparing it to Tyler Perry or Fifty Shades of Grey was an insult to Tyler Perry and Fifty Shades of Grey.
• My Future Self and Me: Invoked in the review of Ben-Hur (2016), when Martin and Goodwin show up wearing the same shirt.
• N-Word Privileges: Used, but not very frequently.
• Older Than They Look: Korey is in his mid-forties, but manages to look like he's in his late twenties/early thirties.
• One-Steve Limit: Averted with Korey Coleman and Korey Goodwin. The latter goes through Last-Name Basis as a result.
• Plucky Comic Relief: Discussed with regards to Fred from Big Hero 6, where Martin compares him to Shaggy and Korey semi-seriously offers the theory that he's the group's weed dealer.
• Red Oni, Blue Oni: Korey and Martin, respectively.
• Running Gag:
  • Korey being a "Marvel bitch". It's reached a point where Korey feels obligated to take potshots at DC whenever the topic of superhero movies comes up.
  • Korey's rather...unusual method of marketing DT merch. "Have some of that toasty goodness comin' all over your body!"
  • People in the chat ("the chat-a-tat-tat") posting "Fuck You, Korey".
• Screams Like a Little Girl: Korey admits it during this video, where he compares a clip of him on a roller coaster to a clip of a reporter on the Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
• Straight Man and Wise Guy: Martin and Korey, respectiely.
• Stiff Upper Lip: Invoked by Martin during the review of Dunkirk, where he describes the film's use of it as "Don't make a scene, old chap." Or as Korey put it, "That sucks, but that motherfucker's gone."
• The Stoner: Korey Goodwin is a low-key pot smoker.
• Team Pet: Mojo, Korey's pet Chihuahua. Later replaced by Korey's other Chihuahua, Pixie, who is far more willing than Mojo to be picked up and mugged for the camera.
• Token White: Frequently joke about Girts being one of these. Chris Herman took over this role in 2020.
• Too Dumb to Live: Naturally invoked when they mentioned Hei Hei, where they talk about Maui has to guide him to the food and Korey suggesting that making him into a Chick-Fil-A sandwich would be a Mercy Kill.
• Torches and Pitchforks: The Christopher Nolan fanboys from the Interstellar review (Actually Stock Footage from the original Frankenstein).
• We Used to Be Friends: Downplayed; in a couple videos, Korey mentions that conspiracy theorist Alex Jones used to be acquainted with him and his family, and that he was generally respectful towards them. Nowadays, Korey thinks Jones is a fear-mongering scumbag.
• What Did I Do Last Night?: For Korey, the answer is "quite a few things."
