"You know that it must be Christmastime! La la la la la la la la la la la la!"

Deck'd is a three-part series created by Dom Fera of The Lazer Collection fame. The series stars Peter Bell (played by Fera), a kid who loves Christmas— really loves Christmas, to the point that his mornings entail festive musical numbers, much to the annoyance of his friends and family. It gets so bad that Fred, the local bully, decks Peter after he's done with a song one morning before Christmas. Unfortunately for Peter, his friend Shaun and his family are less than sympathetic, with the typical reply to the story being "Well I would've hit you too!" Can Peter keep the spirit of the season and his dignity?

The video spawned a sequel in which Peter is sent by Santa Claus to New York to bring cheer into a disillusioned girl's life, and a threequel (split up into three parts plus an epilogue) in which Peter gets a little too big for his britches. Newgrounds has the Flash game Peter Bell Saves Christmas, set between Deck'd 1 and 2, in which Peter must rescue Santa from Fred.

Tropes in Deck'd:

  • Accidental Innuendo: In-universe, Peter's "Come now fellows, this isn't in the spirit of the season! We should be jingling bells and roasting chestnuts!" gets some predictable laughs from the kids.
  • Adults Are Useless: Peter's dad proposes cooking Fred a goose for decking Peter.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Subverted; polar bears start as enemies, but they become friendly once you beat them, and then there's Buddy the polar bear who gives Peter a lift and guides Santa's sleigh in lieu of Rudolph since he can fly.
  • Christmas Elves: Some Brainwashed and Crazy ones show up as enemies in the game, and in 3 we have Dinker, who returns from Dom's early animated short I Want Spider-Powers For Christmas.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Peter's grandma, played by Dom Fera's actual grandma who hated corn in real life and randomly started talking about it during shooting. She then asks:
Grandma: Peter, did you try the corn? It's good!
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Peter is momentarily distracted by the Goth girl in the game, giggling that she's pretty, before realizing she's the level boss.
  • Double Standard: Chelsea calls Peter out on his preference for Christmas over every other time of year since he's criticizing her for disliking Christmas.
  • Evil Redhead: Fred was just a jerk in the first one, but in the game his plotting means he's squarely in this trope.
  • Foreshadowing: Santa in the game when he gives Peter the satchel:
Santa: It'll help you in the sequel!
  • Funny Background Event: Level 2 of the game has Captain America frozen in ice in the background.
  • G-Rated Drug: Peter and Hark do candy canes in Deck'd 3. Or at least Peter does, Hark is apparently on the patch.
  • Kids Are Cruel: While they seem eager enough to join in Peter's musical number, they turn on him pretty quickly and laugh along with Fred.
  • Medium Awareness:
    • Peter is extremely aware of what happens during the songs, particularly in Deck'd 2 where he gets excited that a counterpoint section is coming up, and mentioning that he knows that it's a sequel.
    • In the game, he muses that he expected a boss fight, right before the first boss.
  • The Musical: Aside from the game, the Deck'd series is made up of short musicals.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: Averted when Fred hits Peter after he finishes a song. Played straight when later, he does hit Peter right in the middle of his song, which Shaun is all too happy to point out.
  • Not So Above It All: Santa decks Fred after he calls him fat, just seconds after encouraging Pete to be the better man.
  • Put on a Bus: In Deck'd 3, it's mentioned Grandma's in prison for burning down a cornfield. In reality though, she passed away between 1 and 2.
  • Santa Clausmas: Christmas is a pretty Santa-dominated affair in these videos, being the one in charge of the Cheer Sphere for example.
  • Saving Christmas: The game. It's in the title! Peter also becomes famous for this as a Time magazine cover states that he saves Christmas daily.
  • Squee: Peter when it comes to anything related to Christmas. Shining example is when he first sees Santa in Peter Bell Saves Christmas.
