James "Another Dead Hero" Carlson is a video reviewer on the Channel Awesome forums and The Rosenhacker's site. He is known mostly for his video reviews of the baddest of the bad in comics, film and anime (along with some good stuff). He has various pixel art on his DeviantArt page. His videos can be found at The Rosenhacker and his own YouTube account.

He can be found on Twitter here.

Tropes:

  • Black Comedy Rape: Used pretty extensively in his review of the three Violence Jack OVA episodes, though to be fair it would be pretty hard to make an any way lighthearted or comical review about them without use of this trope due to the subject matter.
  • The Cameo: Averted in one case where he asked for Diamanda Hagan to help him out in the first part of his Necronomicon: Book of the Dead review, only to show a funny cat video, he didn't notice the difference.
  • Caustic Critic: One of the main reasons to watch him is to see some truly deserving pieces of terrible media get torn to shreds by his commentary. While he isn't as mean-spirited or nasty as some similar reviewers are he certainly isn't one to mince words or hold back his contempt for stuff that is truly vile and depraved. (Or just outright sucks.)
  • Content Warnings: He'll often put these on videos with a high amount of adult content and/or touchy subject matter. His video on St. Michael Academy is one such example:
WARNING This episode of The Anime Snob features references and scenes of STRONG DISTURBING OR SEXUAL CONTENT, including RELIGIOUS THEMES, BRUTAL AND ABUSIVE VIOLENCE, RAPE AND SUICIDE, MOST INVOLVING PRE-TEENS. VIEWER DESCRETION IS ADVISED.
  • Country Matters: He isn't afraid of dropping this moniker on characters that truly piss him off, such as the old lady from the Midnight Panthers anime who eats all of the food before her overworked and hungry assassin can show up and then belches loudly in her face on top of it.
    • A much more serious example is Joker from the third Violence Jack OVA who James calls this for all of the horrific sexual violence he inflicts on Jun, one of his favorite characters. He hated him so much that he considered his death to be one of his top favorite moments from the entire OVA series and wastes no time in mocking it in comedic fashion.
  • Episode Title Card: His cards are done by Moniek-Kuuper, herself known for her TGWTG fancomics.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He claims to have no standards in the first Violence Jack OVA but this is quickly proven false when he gets extremely horrified at some of the more gruesome sex and violence on display in it, such as the infamous "pole rape" scene in Evil Town where a woman is brutally murdered, raped and her body left on display. Understandably, he refuses to show any of the aftermath to the viewer and comments that even Jack himself seems to be disturbed at seeing it.
