''The Story of Sophia''
is a fan webcomic of
SMG4 made by
Makerboy 10. It follows Sophia, the niece of One-Shot Wren, as she strives to be a great Splatfest player like her uncle... and developing a hatred to the Inkling he gave his beanie to: Meggy Spletzer.
The Story of Sophia contains examples of:
- Adaptational Nice Guy:
- Inkura comforts Wren for his loss, something she didn’t do in Western Spaghetti.
- Wren himself has been given much more sympathetic moments this time around, particularly concerning Sophia.
- Downer Ending: Even after Wren’s scheme has been reported on the news, Sophia still blames Meggy and declares revenge on her, unwittingly playing into the plans of the then-unnamed TV Adware.
- Irrational Hatred: Sophia hates Meggy and feels she’s undeserving of wearing her uncle’s beanie... even though the choice to give her the beanie was Wren’s and Meggy looks up to her uncle as much as she does.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Sophia is a short-tempered girl with an Irrational Hatred of Meggy. She also dearly loves her uncle and helps out with charity.
- Missing Mom: We see Sophia’s father, but not her mother.
- Original Character: Wren’s niece and her father are characters in the comic. In the original series, we don’t see any family members from Wren.
- Retcon:
- Meggy and Tari are seen in their 2023 models during the events of Meggy’s Destiny, which was released in 2020.
- Meggy's Splatfest trophy looks different here than in canon SMG4, resembling a regular trophy instead of its squid form.
- Stock Footage:
- Pages 8 and 24 reuse snippets from Western Spaghetti.
- Two snippets from Desti’s funeral are used for Page 10.
- Snippets of the final Splatfest are used for Page 16.
- Ungrateful Bitch: Zigzagged with Sophia. After Meggy saves her from the God Box’s meteor shower in Revelations, she goes back and forth to feeling she should be grateful to Meggy or still hate her.
