MarioMario54321 (AKA MM54321 or Ricky Mizos) is a popular Super Mario 64 machinimist on YouTube. Notable for having produced more videos more frequently than most other Super Mario 64 machinimists, which may have contributed to his success, and for the fairly expansive fictional universe he's constructed over the years which ties pretty much all of his videos together into one continuity.

Tropes found in MarioMario54321's videos include:

  • Action Girl: GIRL Squad.
  • Art Shift: Varies between scenes, such as the kart-driving scenes and using Super Smash Bros. for fight scenes before the use of green-screening.
  • Ascended Extra: Ztarman3 debuted as an offscreen dopple (where he was known as Namrats3) before Starman3's SM64 Bloopers, where he was revealed to be the Big Bad of the Blooper Stopper Arc in Starman3's bloopers.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Many cases of this occur, such as during boss battles.
  • Author Avatar: Youtuber characters are generally depicted in MM54321's videos as recolors of Mario, which includes MM.
  • Berserk Button: Do NOT hurt Luigi in front of his brother. The same goes for attacking MM's friends.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Dark Star X and Light Star X are about to merge together and destroy the entire multiverse, Starman3 comes out of nowhere and is able to stop the mergeR for the time being.
  • Cosmic Retcon: It's implied in Time 2 that the MarioMario54321 and Starman3 Multiverse constantly retcons itself, due to Mario & Luigi being stuck in 2001 because the Time Machine they used to travel back to that year required Magnezone power (which it ran out of). Luigi notes that said Pokemon outright DID NOT exist alongside the rest of everything from Gen IV during 2001 due to Gamefreak having not thought of Gen IV yet. Making manners more complicated is that even backstories fall under this rule, meaning some events from the past have and haven't occurred at the same time.
  • Evil Counterpart: The doppelgangers are intended to be this towards their original counterpart, wanting nothing more than to spread evil. For instance, MarioMario54321's doppelganger, OriamOriam12345 was willing to destroy the multiverse, whilst MarioMario54321 was willing to save it.
  • Fire and Brimstone Hell: Hell is depicted in the videos as resembling a dark cavern with a lot of lava in it, complete with a castle, only accessible through going into said lava.
  • Good All Along: Mastar and Cosmitalitaurus: Mastar was working for the latter, who tried to destroy the Star World to keep its crystals out of Zythurvion's reach.
  • Keystone Army: As long as Dark Star X is still around, all of the Doppelgangers can come Back from the Dead with few consequences. However, when it is destroyed, the doppelgangers die with it for good. This also applies to the good side concerning Light Star X.
  • Let No Crisis Go to Waste: In Beanventure, Mario and Luigi find out that Mushroom Kingdom coins are now more valuable than Beanbean Kingdom coins due to a major stock market crash and try to exchange coins with them temporarily until it goes back to normal for profit. Unfortunately, literally, everyone else had the same idea.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Had Mario and Luigi not battled Dark Star X head-on in "OriamOriam12345 and the Dark Star X", it wouldn't have restored its full power and escaped Hell alongside the other doppelgangers.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Lilyncookies notably stands out from the other author avatars in that she is not represented by a Mario recolour, instead appearing as a flat drawing inserted into the action.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: OiramOiram12345, after figuring that the Doppelganger War would never end, decides to destroy reality itself to end it, including himself and his followers.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: As shown in "OriamOriam12345 and the Dark Star X", the Doppelgangers' true forms give them red eyes.
  • Remember the New Guy?: The Dark Star X. Lampshaded by MarioMario54321 near the end of "OiramOiram12345 and the Dark Star X".
  • Retcon: Many details have been retroactively changed over the years as MM has found new ideas and had to make them work with the older continuity. The Dark Star X story arc in particular (and additional information about it released later on) was prone to retconning previously-established details of the older doppelganger arc, such as the Devil creating the doppelgangers and the identity of the Different Dimension god (and in fact, the nature of the Different Dimension itself).
  • Sequel Hook: MarioMario54321 occasionally releases videos designed to set the stage for his next movie, the most recent example being The Dark Moon World, when a mysterious new villain named Zaether who is not related to the Moon World appears and easily defeats Mario and then takes an unseen object, most likely setting him up as the main villain of the next major movie.
  • Shout-Out / The Cameo: Various figures from shows MM54321 was familiar with back in the day appeared in some of his earlier works.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: The majority of the doppelgangers have names that are their counterpart's names spelled backward. For instance, Mario's doppelganger is named Oriam and Luigi's doppelganger is named Igiul. Averted in the case of some like Dark Lily.
  • Stylistic Suck: In Time 3, the events during 2008 were done by Windows Movie Maker, and it was uploaded in 2012, and MarioMario54321 had a better movie studio (Sony Vegas) at the time. Lampshaded by Starman3.
  • Time Travel: The Time Trilogy revolves around this.
  • Token Good Teammate: Of the doppelgangers, the only one who is actually on the heros' side is OacYdnac7, thanks to his counterpart, CandyCao7, having a Faceā€“Heel Turn and a quirk of the doppelgangers being that they are always on the opposite side of their counterparts.

The X Bosses

In "OriamOriam12345 and the Dark Star X", the X bosses have to be beaten within a time limit or the cast have to restart the fight.

How well does it match the trope?
