Freddy Fazbear and Friends provides examples of:
- Aborted Arc: This is what happens to Bonnie after "Bonnie's Birthday Surprise", when Chica ruins the arc by slamming the cake in the bunny's face, which in turn causes him to grow cold-hearted again, some people consider this wasted potential.
- Adaptational Nationality: An In-Universe example. Each version of Foxy has a different accent, Classic Foxy has an American English accent, Withered Foxy has a British accent, and Phantom Foxy has a Scottish accent.
- Adaptational Heroism: Many characters from the series are nicer than their scary canonical counterparts.
- Adaptational Villainy: With that said however, some characters are far worse and far meaner than in canon.
- All Justa Dream: "Bonnie's Christmas Carol" is revealed to be a dream as a result of Bonnie being injured.
- An Arm and a Leg: In "Freddy's Knee Troubles", Freddy had to go a week walking with just one leg after damaging it.
- Art Evolution: The models changed throughout the series while it was being animated in SFM.
- Art Shift: In the Scary Stories episodes, the art style switches between SFM and Plushies.
- Berserk Button: Never break Bonnie's guitar.
- Big Eater: Withered Freddy. That's it. Withered Freddy.
- Birthday Episode: Bonnie and Chica's episodes ultimately become A Birthday, Not a Break
- Chica has one in "Chica's Birthday Disaster".
- Bonnie has two, both in "Bonnie's Birthday Surprise" and "Birthday Coincidence".
- Circus Baby has one in "Birthday Coincidence".
- Black Comedy: Despite appealing to younger audiences, cocaine and ipecac have made it's way into the show before.
- This is especially seen in "Exotic Rush", as Funtime Freddy and Bon Bon take Exotic Butters (after Ennard told them not to) and ingest them, only to experience hallucinations, implying the butter had a drug of some sort in them.
- This creates a plot hole, however, as in "Theodore", exotic butters were shown to be consumable.
- This is especially seen in "Exotic Rush", as Funtime Freddy and Bon Bon take Exotic Butters (after Ennard told them not to) and ingest them, only to experience hallucinations, implying the butter had a drug of some sort in them.
- Cross-Referenced Titles: The season 1 episode "Chica Runs Away" and the season 5 episode "Bonnie Runs Away" both revolve around a character running away.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Nightmare Bonnie is the prime example of this, as he comes from a species of pure evil, which after he redeems himself, still leads him to believe he isn't worthy of love, this becoming an arc until "Nightmare Unwrapped".
- Early-Installment Weirdness: The series was originally animated using Source Filmmaker. Starting with "The Nature Walk" the series is done using plushies. It later changed back to SFM as mentioned below.
- Everybody's Dead, Dave: This is seen once in "Fazbear Lottery", as the Fazbear Gang (except Freddy) is killed off via an explosion.
- Experienced Protagonist: Golden Freddy, Springtrap, and Puppet.
- Five-Man Band: The main characters, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and Golden Freddy.
- Ultimately subverted with Chica, who in later episodes, becomes farther from The Heart and becomes more of an Anti-Hero.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Both Freddy and Foxy share this trope, Foxy to a much lesser extent.
- Halloween Episode: The three Scary Stories episodes.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: Foxy is shown to have this issue in the series with beer, with it becoming a huge problem in later seasons, as seen in the episodes "Foxy's Roommate" and "Foxy Gets Busted"
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: The main trio can be rude and harsh at times even to each other but they’re still good robots deep down.
- Later-Installment Weirdness: Starting with "Chica's Gaming Channel" the series reverts to permanently being animated with SFM.
- Ripped from the Headlines: The season 6 episode "Gone Fishing" coincides with Freddy Fazbear's Pizza being closed due to COVID-19.
- Screams Like a Little Girl: Bonnie does this several times throughout the series, such as in "Double Trouble", or "The Box".
- Token Heroic Orc: Nightmare Bonnie is the only Nightmare to pull a Heel–Face Turn.
- Trip to the Moon Plot: Since the first episode is titled "Trip to the Moon".
- Vocal Evolution: Many of the characters' voices have gotten significantly deeper since the start of the show, due to Andrew hitting puberty. Comparing the voice of early season animatronics to that of the late season is like comparing night and day.
- Whole Episode Flashback: "Bonnie Runs Away" and "Chica's Anniversary" serve as this, with the former being after a Season 1 Episode and the latter being before the series itself.
- Yet Another Christmas Carol: Season 1 has "Bonnie's Christmas Carol".
