Black Rhino Ranger (also known as BRRGames) is a YouTube channel that specializes in gaming and animations, particularly those relating to Skylanders.

The channel was launched in late 2009, and continues to upload to this day.

Tropes:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka" has a chain; Wolfgang is one to Hex, who is one to Fright Rider. Additionally, Chompy Mage is one to Stealth Elf.
  • Adaptational Villainy: "Take Out the Turkey" presents Glumshanks as more openly hostile towards the Skylanders, when in the games he is mostly neutral towards them (and in a few instances, is even on their side).
  • Big "NO!": Crossed with Skyward Scream, Spyro does this in "The Ice Cream Cake is a Lie" when he finds out that Wrecking Ball devoured the entire cake.
  • Black Comedy: In "Friends for Sale", Trigger Happy sells Flashwing and Sprocket to pay the bills. He only gets two cents for the both of them.
  • Bowdlerise: BRR uploaded an altered version of "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", which cuts out some song lyrics relating to things being "sexy".
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", Lightning Rod's sexy video is rendered as a black screen reading "Probably best not to be shown in front of younger viewers of this video".
  • Carnivore Confusion: There are several references to the morality of eating foods that bear similarities to Skylanders' species.
    • Toyed with in "Eating your own kind", where four different Skylanders are horrified to find each other eating their kind (Gill Grunt freaks out at Stump Smash eating fish, Stump Smash freaks out at Shroomboom eating broccoli, Shroomboom freaks out at Wrecking Ball eating mushrooms, and Wrecking Ball freaks out at Gill Grunt eating grubworms). Spyro suggests cannibalism, punctuated by Hot Dog eating a hot dog, so Gill Grunt tastes the fish and likes it.
    • In "Rest in Pizza", Gill Grunt and Shroomboom run screaming when they find out that the pizza has both anchovies and mushrooms on it. Trigger Happy wonders if he should have gone with tuna instead.
    • In "2nd Anniversary of Skylanders", Gill Grunt gets mad at Eruptor for suggesting they make sushi, citing him being a fish as to why. Oddly, later in the episode, they are shown making eggs...lucky for them, Sonic Boom is nowhere to be found.
  • Christmas Episode: The first full Skylanders animation, "Skylanders Christmas", where the Skylanders deliver gifts to the people of Skylands.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Spyro colour and flavour-coded his giant ice cream cake for each of the eight elements; grape/purple for Magic, brown/chocolate for Earth, blue(berry) for Water, strawberry/red for Fire, orange for Tech, vanilla/black for Undead, pistachio/light blue for Air, and mint/green for Life.
  • Covered in Gunge: In "2nd Anniversary of Skylanders", the FLDSMDFR craps all over Jet-Vac.
  • Eat the Bomb: "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka" includes a brief gag where the Gulper eats a bomb.
  • Extreme Omnivore: In "2nd Anniversary of Skylanders", when Spyro asks where the fridge is, Gill Grunt explains that Wrecking Ball ate it.
  • Gasshole: Eruptor burps a lot more often than in canon, and they are shown to gross others out.
  • Mood Whiplash: In "Spyro: Master of All Elements", when showcasing Spyro's Undead talents, him weeping over Ignitus' grave is immediately followed with him wearing a wolf Halloween costume with a very silly face.
  • Mythology Gag: In "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", when Kaos sings "Only got twenty dollars in my pocket", Terrafin appears in the corner and shouts "That's how much he owes me!", referencing an ad for Spyro's Adventure where Terrafin claims that Kaos owes him money.
  • Potty Emergency: In "Hater comments are useful", Spyro suffers one of these immediately after eating a bowl of chocolate pudding.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: In "Take Out the Turkey", the titular turkey gives these to Trigger Happy, which makes him change his mind about hunting him.
  • Running Gag: The Skylanders being extremely broke.
  • Shared Universe: The Skylanders live in the same proximity as the Friendship is Magic-era ponies.
  • Shout-Out: Many videos contain character cameos, jokes, and plot beats that reference other media.
  • Something Else Also Rises: In "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", Whirlwind's wings spring up while watching a MabuTube video titled "Lightning Rod's Sexy Video".
  • Stock Sound Effects: A common fixture of videos, with many coming from Hanna-Barbera.
  • Take That!: In "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", Trigger Happy is annoyed at Cynder for listening to Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball".
  • Toilet Humour: The "Pop Pizz" short, where Pop Fizz's urine makes a toilet turn evil.
  • Visual Pun: In the "Wrecking Ball" segment of "Now That's What I Call Skylanders Polka", the Skylander named Wrecking Ball is the one breaking walls.
