Baby Pokémon Battle Royale is the third battle royale video collaborated by Jeremy Chinshue and Lockstin from Gnoggin. All baby Pokémon duke it out in a daycare to see which one will emerge victorious.

The battle is preceded by Legendary & Mythical Pokémon Battle Royale and followed by Mega Pokémon Battle Royale.

You can watch the video here, and Lockstin's commentary here.

Tropes:

  • Bilingual Bonus: A Japanese voice clip plays when lightning strikes behind Riolu. Although the caption translates it as “Who dares strike me?”, it actually translates to “Who touched my butt?”
  • Black Comedy: Wynaut is implied to have eaten a photorealistic baby.
  • Call-Back:
    • Like it did in Pokémon Battle Royale, a startled Igglybuff starts bouncing between several objects and builds up enough speed to achieve escape velocity, causing a satellite to come crashing down to Earth in the process.
    • Elekid and Pichu summon a thunderstorm in the same way the Electivire from the original video did, complete with Super Saiyan-esque aura.
  • Chekhov's Gag: The joke from the first battle royale video of Igglybuff bouncing into space and hitting a satellite into the atmosphere makes a return here. This time around Cleffa is sitting on the satellite when Igglybuff hits it, causing it to fall into the daycare where the other Pokémon are.
  • Critical Status Buff: Riolu deliberately lets itself take damage from Wynaut’s Counter in order to make its own attacks strong enough to bypass the move entirely.
  • Daydream Surprise: After Riolu wins the fight, it's revealed that the fight was all in the baby Pokémon's imaginations, and they were just playing.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Munchlax is shown eating toys, clothes, an entire tree, and two other Pokémon.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • When lightning strikes near Happiny, "I need my EGG" briefly pops up next to it.
    • The words "BIRD UP!" can be glimpsed in the sky while Tyrogue and Riolu are punching Elekid into the air.
  • Funny Background Event:
    • Pichu can be seen falling from the sky in the first scene.
    • When Lockstin is providing exposition in the end, an Alolan Exeggutor's neck can be seen growing to absurd lengths. A Ditto is also shown coughing up an egg.
  • Fun with Subtitles
    • The title card is accompanied by an "Aw so coot".
    • As Red rides his bicycle around the video frame, the subtitles encourage him: "HATCH THOSE EGGS BOY".
    • The baby Pokémon glaring at Magby is represented in the subtitles by a >:( emoticon.
    • Igglybuff responds to Chingling's high-pitched scream by screaming in turn, which the subtitles declare to be the better of the two screams.
      Chingling: (Screams)
      Igglybuff: (Screams better)
    • Munchlax saying its own name when it's trying to get the pineapple from Wynaut is formally phrased in the subtitles, while it flopping over in frustration is subtitled as "(clinical depression)" and the stock laughter after Wynaut makes the Obligatory Joke about its name is referred to as "(sitcom laughter)".
Munchax: Give me that apple of the PINE.
      Wynaut: Why?
      Munchax: I require its sustenance.
      Wynaut: Naut!
      (Munchlax flops on the ground)
      Wynaut: Wy?
Munchax: The pineapple wants me to consume it!
  • Hoist by His Own Petard
    • Budew launches a burst of its sneeze-inducing pollen into Magby's face. The resulting sneeze produces a blast of fire that reduces it to a skeleton.
    • Pichu helps Elekid out in summoning a thunderstorm. It ends up being the only Pokémon shown to get killed by lightning.
  • Hyper-Destructive Bouncing Ball: Igglybuff gets hit by Chingling rebounding off a wall, sending it bouncing toward a grove of trees. It gains enough speed from ricocheting between the trees that it gets launched into space, hitting a satellite Cleffa was sitting on in its way out. In The Stinger, it's now bouncing between planets in the galaxy.
  • Mythology Gag: The Lightning storm created by Elekid and Pichu is a reference to two things.
    • It's a reference to how Elekid's evolution, Electivire, created a similar but larger-scale storm in the first Battle Royale.
    • It also is a reference to the Pikachu short, Pikachu's Rescue Adventure, which had Ash's Pikachu and an Elekid combining their powers to fend off multiple lightning strikes.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Pichu and Smoochum manage to save Togepi from getting eaten by Munchlax. The force generated by their efforts, however, causes Togepi to fly through the air and splat like an egg upon hitting the ground.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Riolu's Pokédex entry — describing it able to cover vast expanses of difficult terrain in just one night — in most cases doesn't amount to much. But seeing as how just about every other baby Pokémon's Pokédex entry highlights some deficiency (such as Pichu hurting itself) or simply describing their basic appearance, that still puts Riolu far above everyone else. Even in crunch, this is the case too, as Riolu is one of the few baby Pokemon that can comfortably fight non-baby Pokémon. Thus, it's no surprise that it easily wins the battle royale.
  • Oddball in the Series: Baby Pokemon Battle Royale is the only Pokémon Battle Royale video that doesn’t use Professor Oak’s lab as the setting of the Framing Device. This is because it’s the only installment that doesn’t take place in a simulation on a computer in Oak’s lab, instead taking place at a Daycare in the imaginations of the baby Pokémon.
  • Obligatory Joke: Wynaut and Muchlax's dispute over a pineapple ends with Wynaut giving the fruit to Muchlax, sighing, and saying the entirety of its name, homophonous with "why not?". Canned laughter plays afterward.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Magby causes a volcano to rise out of the ground and erupt.
  • Production Foreshadowing: A Ditto can be seen throwing up an egg at the end of the video. A few months after this video's release, TerminalMontage would release a music video titled "Ditto's Daycare Dance". The Ditto in that video produces eggs in several ways, including throwing them up.
  • Running Gag: This is the third Pokémon Battle Royale video in a row to start with a member of the Pikachu line falling out of the sky.
  • Shock and Awe: Elekid and Pichu summon a thunderstorm a la the Electivire from the first video, which blows up the trainer riding his bike, kills Pichu, and provokes Riolu.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sneeze of Doom: Budew scatters pollen into Magby's face, causing it to sneeze. Said sneeze burns Budew to a crisp and evaporates all the water in Mantyke's pond.
  • Spinoff Babies: This entry exclusively showcases baby Pokémon.
  • The Stinger: Igglybuff is bouncing off planets in the wider galaxy.
  • Stripped to the Bone:
    • Magby's fiery sneeze skeletonizes Budew.
    • Mantyke gets melted by the heat of the volcano Magby summoned as it pleads for Smoochum to help it.
  • Stuff Blowing Up:
    • Munchlax gets weighed down by a rock it ate and starts rolling down a hill, colliding with Bonsly. Both explode upon impact.
    • A bolt of lightning from the storm Elekid and Pichu summon vaporizes a trainer and their bike.
  • Victory Fakeout: The victory music plays twice, only for it to cut out as the apparent victor realizes another Pokémon survived. The first time, Cleffa crawls out of the crater it made. The second time, Wynaut pops out from under some rubble.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Happiny, a species that can only be female, uses a voice clip of Louis from Left 4 Dead.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?:
    • Around a minute in, Chingling crashes into Elekid's horns, keeps going, and doesn't appear again. Every other Pokémon is either already dead by the time the thunderstorm and volcano appear or gets shown dealing with the havoc they cause, but the Bell Pokémon's fate after it zooms offscreen is unclear.
    • The defeats of Mime Jr., Azurill, Happiny, and Smoochum are never shown. In the case of the latter three, Lockstin's commentary video implies at least one of them met a similar fate to Elekid and were beaten up by Riolu and Mime Jr.
