WMG / The Book of Boba Fett

Go To

There will be a flashback scene that explains what Boba Fett been up to between the event of Return of the Jedi and The Mandalorian
Since Season 2 of The Mandalorian doesn't explains Boba Fett's survival from Sarlacc and what he did during 5 years before the event of The Mandalorian, this show will contain a flashback scene to explains not only his survival but what he did during the 5 years Time Skip.

Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin will have a cameo appearance
Considered they says this show along with Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic (before the latter got shelved) would culminate in a "climactic story event". So I bet The Mandalorian will have a cameo appearance to set up that "climactic story event".
  • Seems likely after chapter 4. Towards the end, Fennec and Boba agree they need to hire some muscle for the upcoming war with the Pykes. At this exact moment, Din’s iconic woodwind theme plays…
  • Confirmed, Din Djarin is the main focus of the fifth episode.

Peli Motto will make an appearance
This guess sounded even wilder than those I already listed under Epileptic Trees, and seems based primarily on Boba and Fennec moving onto the same planet as her workshop. Still, the thought of it coming true sounds neat.
  • Confirmed, kind of. She appears in the background with a Pit Droid during Boba’s flashback on Tatooine as an Easter Egg in Chapter 3.
  • She appears properly in the fifth episode.

One of the Trandoshans in the trailer is Bossk
He's alive at this point, and he's dealt with Boba before.

Rotta the Hutt will be cared for by Boba and Fennec
We still don't know what happened to him after his father's death, and this one can give the show its own cute, lore-related mascot to rival Grogu. Dave Filoni surely must not have forgotten about him considering the amount of Clone Wars characters that were brought back in The Mandalorian.
  • Jossed. Rotta is not even mentioned in the series.

Han Solo will be a Hero Antagonist
He might not be happy to see Boba has resurfaced and is taking over his old creditor's empire.

Other possible bounty hunter appearances
  • Dengar — part of Boba's crew sometimes.
  • IG-88 — also a part of Boba's crew, could contrast him with IG-11.
  • 4-LOM — rounding out Boba's crew.
  • Cad Bane — one of the most popular bounty hunters.
  • Aurra Sing — will turn out to be Not Quite Dead and will be unhappy about Boba's new empire.

Fennec Shand will reveal her real name.
Fennec Shand will be just an alias she uses for bounty hunting work, her real name is Sintas Vel and she is Boba's ex wife.

Fennec Shand will betray Boba Fett at the end of the series to try to take over his criminal Empire.

Fennec and Boba obviously have very different approaches as to how a crime boss should operate on Tatooine. With Boba intending to rule through respect and honor, whereas Fennec wants him to rule through intimidation and fear from the people. At the end of the series, Fennec will declare Boba’s way to not be working and challenge him for the throne of Jabba’s Palace.

The reason Boba Fett needs regular bacta tank sessions is because of clone degeneration.
One gripe that some fans had with the first episode included the fact that Boba was getting winded fighting the Night Wind Assassins even when he was decimating Stormtroopers in The Mandalorian before could be due to the fact that he's starting to feel the effects of clone degeneration, not the same as advanced aging that the standard Jango Fett Clone Troopers were given, but something more to do with his genetic structure. The acid from the Sarlacc's stomach, added with the constant wear and tear from all he'd been through during and after the Original Trilogy might've triggered this issue earlier than it did in Legends when Boba was well into his senior years. The bacta tank is a means to slow it down until he can find a more permanent solution.
  • As of Chapter 4 - the Bacta treatment was specifically stated to be to repair the damage done by Sarlacc stomach acid. Two trips worth in fact.

Rotta the Hutt’s fate will be revealed
Whether he survived (and possibly finds his way into Boba and Fennec’s hands like one of the previous WMG’s suggested) or was killed/died offscreen will be talked about at some point.

Something will happen to the Tusken Tribe
There won't be a happy ending with Boba joining the Tusken Tribe in the backstory. Most likely the Pykes will get revenge against them and Boba will survive, setting him down the path of avenging his tribesmen. This will lead him to saving Fennec, getting his armor back, and taking over Jabba's old empire, it's all so he can build a powerbase to get his revenge.
  • Confirmed, insofar as something terrible happening to the Tusken tribe. Though it was the Nikto swoop gang who did the deed instead.
    • However, Fennec says that it's highly unlikely that a mere Nikto swoop gang could destroy a tribe of powerful warriors like the Tuskens. It's likely that the Nikto gang was set up as a scapegoat by the Pykes. After all, they're the kind of scum that would avoid paying protection money at all, and have every reason to slaughter the Tuskens for humiliating their operations.
      • Confirmed: The Pykes were indeed behind it.

The plot against Boba doesn't end with the Pykes.
Something has the Hutt Twins spooked bad enough to give up on Tatooine entirely. We do learn by the end of Chapter 3 that the Mayor has promised Mos Espa to the Pyke Syndicate, but think about it— yes, the Hutts are severely weakened, but the Pykes alone don't seem like enough to truly scare them. On the other hand, who do we know the Pykes work with (as seen in Solo), and whose leitmotif has been right there in the main theme all along? Crimson Dawn. These guys command true fear and reverence in the criminal underworld, and they (perhaps still led by Qi'ra assuming she survives the Crimson Reign comic series) will be the final boss of the series.

Despite Black Krrsantan's reputation as being a ruthless Bounty Hunter, he may actually be Throwing the Fight on Boba
Let's be clear: Krrsantan was never really known for his loyalty to anyone (he did take the bounty on Dr. Aphra when it came down to it), but then again he did have history with Boba. As mentioned elsewhere, Krrsantan's reputation was ferocious enough that if he really wanted Boba dead, it's unlikely Boba would have walked out of the bacta tank with limbs intact. The fact that he made such a show and mess of the attack (despite being clearly capable of stealth—or he wouldn't have been able to get into the palace in the first place) was likely a Batman Gambit on his part: if he succeeds, he gets paid. If he doesn't, it will be on record that he went down fighting—which means his cred as a bounty hunter remains intact.

The Hutts are only pulling out of claiming Tatooine so they can swoop in after Boba's fight with the Pykes to finish off whoever wins.
The Hutts coming in soon after Boba claimed their cousin's throne, only to pull out one episode later seems a bit anti-climactic. But The Hutts are notorious for being criminal masterminds, and having life-spans that can reach into the thousands, they can certainly play the long game. There's a reason they've controlled a sizeable swath of the galaxy with not even the Republic or Empire daring to cross them. The Twins could be taking advantage of the fact Boba is about to go to war with the Pykes. They could just be stepping off to allow the two syndicates to fight it out and wear each other out then come back in and finish off the victor while they're licking their wounds. It would certainly be less effort of their part than to just fight both Boba and the Pykes.
  • Boba has this suspicion even in-universe. He even makes an attempt to make them relinquish their claim as terms for taking the captive Black Krrsantan back.

The Rancor Trainer is a mole for the Twins.
But in the end, he sees Boba understanding rancor as he does and has a Heel–Face Turn.
  • Jossed: He doesn't make any appearance after bonding the rancor to Boba.

Boba hires Din Djarin and offers something other than coin as payment.
  • The end of Episode 4 "The Gathering Storm", we hear Din's titular leitmotif play right as the episode ends and the credits cut happens, heavily implying that they may be putting a call out to Din for his services. Both Boba and Fennec know of Din's skill. They also both know that Din is down one spaceship home after seeing the Razor Crest get destroyed by orbital bombardment. Seeing that Boba now has a more stationary residence and is no longer an itinerant mercenary, Boba offers Slave 1 as payment for Din's services.
    • The spaceship is iconic and loved, but Disney really wants the name of "Slave I" gone. Transferring it to Din would let them repaint it and rebrand it with a new name. They need a new color scheme so they can launch a new line of merchandise with the reskin.
      • Depends on what comes of the rumours that Din will appear with a new ship of his own when he shows up in the series. Unless of course that one gets destroyed as well.

  • Mostly Confirmed. While Fett does offer payment, Din has refused, saying he'll help Fett out for free. Also, he does indeed have a new ship, an N-1 Starfighter of all things, that he gets in Episode 5.

  • Jossed, ultimately. Din concludes his business with Boba on Tatooine by leaving in his souped up N1 Starfighter.

Din Djarin will bring Bo-Katan and the Nite Owls with him.
Bo-Katan is honor-bound to obey Din, as he is the rightful leader of Mandalore. Boba Fett is in no position to be choosy over who will help him, provided they won't betray him. Bo-Katan and Boba Fett hate each other. This team-up will be comedy gold.

  • Jossed(so far). Din is back to working alone.

Garsa is the real mastermind behind everything.
She has a persuasive voice. She could have manipulated the mayor and by extension the Twins and Boba. She could be waiting for the dust to settle to take over what is left.
  • Jossed: Considering it is highly like that she was killed by a bomb, that is a no.

Jabba was just making it up when he said being digested by a Sarlacc takes 1,000 years.
Or possibly he was repeating a local legend, but the evidence that we've seen on the show doesn't support that it would take that long. The acid is strong enough to injure Boba after he's been in there for just a short time, and when he goes exploring in the pit, all he finds is "junk." Fennec Shand seems to assume that digestion happens much faster too, because she says that Boba's armor must have dissolved over the last five years. So the show may be walking back the most horrific implications of the Sarlacc to keep things relatively kid-friendly, even if it doesn't explicitly say so.

Din Djarin gets character development in stepping up to the plate of being Mandalore
Din really didn't want the responsibility of being the ruler of the Mandalorian nation, seeing how badly he wanted to hand the Darksaber over to Bo-katan. He may have resorted to drifting again as he does not want to lead like that and no longer has Grogu as his charge. However, doing a job as muscle in his kindred spirit Boba's endeavor inspires him to step up and accept the mantle. And in the course of things we get to see Din hack up some Pyke thugs with the Darksaber...

  • At least partially confirmed as of Episode 5. Din goes through some things, particularly some hard lessons regarding proper use of the Darksaber. He's not through with it yet, so it may yet be something saved for Mandalorian Season 3.

Grogu and Luke will be seen again, if briefly, in Chapter 6.
Seems likely given Din's stated intention to "visit a little friend" with the gift he had the Armorer make for Grogu in hand. We might finally learn just what planet Luke's training temple is on.
  • A good part of the episode has them in it.

Boba will claim the Darksaber.
The prophecy was that Mandalor would be destroyed if a Mandalore accepted it as a gift, which Bo-Katan did in Rebels, but the saber would be reclaimed by the Mythosaur who will lead the Mandalorians home again.

Remind me, who has a Mythosaur sigil on his pauldron?

The Night of a Thousand Tears was part of Operation Cinder.
The Armourer posits that Mandalore was destroyed by the Empire because Bo Katan was undeserving of the Darksaber. However, the destruction of the planet comes across as so complete - and its precise timing unknown - that it seems likely that the planet's destruction was simply part of the larger Operation Cinder following Palpatine's (original) death and that Bo Katan and the Darksaber had little to nothing to do with the actual event.

Cad Bane just guaranteed that the Freetowners will join Boba Fett
They aren't keen on signing on with Boba Fett's cause, seeing it as not their problem. Cad Bane marched into town, shot the sheriff and deputy, and all but announced that it was in fact their problem. Now they will see nothing to gain from sitting out of the fight.
  • Confirmed: They show up in the last episode to help Boba and Din, specifically citing Cad's cold-blooded gun-down as why.

Luke making Grogu choose the armor or the lightsaber is a test.
Many people have noticed Luke making Grogu choose between him and Din is rather hypocritical given how he defeated the Empire and his attachment to his friends and family. If it is a test of some sort it would make more sense as he knows the power that could come from familial attachments.

If it is not a test, then Grogu will end up with both anyways.
Grogu does have an established history of grabbing things he shouldn't.

Cad Bane wasn’t actually hired by the Pykes
Though he does seem like one who would do a job no matter what, but he does known that the people of Freetown were ask to fight for Boba. Assuming that the Pykes somehow knew of this as well, hiring him would not be a good idea. So either the Pykes are holing the Villain Ball or some one else hired Bane to make sure that Boba and the Pykes fight each other for whatever reason.
  • Maybe he was hired by the Twins. They seemed to roll over surprisingly easy for Hutts, who we have seen are notably ruthless, and they haven't yet done enough to justify the ominousness of their introduction.
  • Jossed: He is working from them.

Grogu will pick the chainmail
However, Luke will "accidentally" leave Yoda's saber with him when he returns him to Din. Luke will tell Ashoka that when Grogu is ready to part with Din, he will continue his Jedi training.

If Han does make an appearance in the show, him, Boba and Cad Bane will have a The Good, the Bad and the Ugly style showdown
Because not only would it be awesome but it'd also serve as the ultimate tribute to the westerns that inspired the characters by having them re-enact one of the most famous duels in cinema history.

The flashback scenes aren't quite done yet.
We have only seen up to Boba reclaiming Slave 1, we have not seen how he tracked his armor to Cobb Vanth in Freetown or how he was able to track Mando to Tython to retrieve it.
  • Jossed: As there were no more flashbacks.

Characters that could appear in season 2.
  • A'Koba (AKA the Tusken that attacked Luke)
    • Now that Boba has cemented his position as Daimyo in the eyes of the people, the next logical step for him would be to begin fostering diplomatic relations with the settlers and the Tuskens. A’Koba could play a big part in that storyline, as either as an ally or an antagonist.
  • Hondo Ohnaka
    • It’s a Dave Filoni produced show, it’s mainly dealing with criminal underworld stuff, and he’s already made his live action debut in Galaxy’s Edge, honestly, it’s only a matter of time before he makes an appearance. If not here, than at least one of the shows set post-ROTJ. Plus given his relationship with both of the Fetts, Hondo’s basically Boba estranged eccentric uncle.
  • Omega
    • She is essentially Boba's twin sister, and she and Fennec met briefly during the early days of the Empire.

Cobb Vanth will be given a new arm as his Mod.
Given where Cad shot him and how much they emphasized the fact that Cobb is rather quick to a draw, well now he’ll be even quicker (thanks to his new Mod). Plus, as an homage to Robocop, when both Fetts did it in AOTC and Mando season 2 respectively, and westerns in general, I can easily see Vanth using his new arm to do a gunspin with his blaster.

Cousin Itt from The Addams Family is a Jawa
Peli Motto claims to have dated a Jawa, adding that they are "very furry". Could Cousin Itt be a Jawa who escaped to our Galaxy? Did he hitch a ride with the ET aliens from Episode 1?

The Twins' gift was intended as a White Elephant
They were banking on Boba not having enough resources and manpower to keep the Rancor under control, forcing him to either bankrupt himself in the attempt, sell it and lose the respect of the criminal underworld, or do nothing and lose the respect of Mos Espa's citizens when it inevitably escapes and rampages through the city. By genuinely bonding with it in a way Jabba never did with his Rancor, making it far more cooperative and easy to contain, Boba unknowingly derailed this plan.

Peli and the Majordomo will be an item for comic relief purposes
The Majordomo is a prissy, cowardly, straight-arrow milquetoast who is cultured and eloquent. Peli is a rough-and-tumble wisecracking woman who is completely uncouth. The will be paired up for several "opposites attract" gags in The Mandalorian.

Tatooine will one day undergo a transition back into a watery planet.
If it could undergo the transition that turned it into the hot, dry desert planet we know it as today, it can transition back into at least something close to what it used to be. It wouldn't be an overnight transformation and may take many, many years, but the law of conservation of matter says all that water that used to cover it wouldn't have just completely vanished into oblivion.
