WMG / Legend Of The Galactic Heroes Super Robot Wars

Go To

A set of WMG ideas with the series Legend of the Galactic Heroes featuring in Super Robot Wars.

Series to tie into the setting.
  • Sunrider: Taking place in a galaxy where Earth is forgotten (if it ever existed), with a war between the America-based Solar Alliance and FPA vs the Galactic Empire and New Empire/PACT.
  • Str.A.In.: Strategic Armored Infantry: The Galactic Empire could have broken off from the Galactic Union during its time of moral decay, with the time dilation effect reduced due to FTL travel now possible.
  • Vandread: With the Earth Cult and the Harvesters put together.
  • Heroic Age: Due to the massive space battles and political intrigue.

Series siding with the Reinhard vs series siding with the Yang/Julian

Like the second entry of Z and reflecting the series' nature, it will have a Good Versus Good or Gray-and-Gray Morality setting as both Reinhard and Yang are very likable people in their own ways, attracting different types of people of similar morality.

  • For Reinhard:
    • Lux Arcadia: Their methods and personalities are different, not to mention having a difference in marriage (Lux marries all of the girls interested in him while Reinhard avoids it due to his experiences with the Goldenbaum Dynasty). Despite that, Lux and Reinhard would certainly form a kinship due to having sisters held captive by a corrupt empire and once starting at the bottom of the barrel of said kingdom (Reinhard was a lower noble, Lux became a Fallen Prince after the fall of the Arcadia Empire). Both of them also take power and change the old system from within by doing constitutional reforms.
    • Celestial Being: Although Reinhard is warmonger, he is well aware of his faults just like how Celestial Being themselves are aware of their contradict of solving war with more war. What separates Reinhard from other warmongers they often target is that he improves the lives of far more people drastically, even at the cost of other lives.
    • JIOR and, later, the Third Galactic Empire: Just by their name alone, they eventually become an Empire themselves and will accept coexistence of other races just like the New Galactic Empire's integration of the Alliance territories.
    • Empire of Misurugi: Or rather a Post-Embryo world that has outgrown its prejudices (or refueled with actual convictions), much like how the Reinhard ended many prejudices with popular support upon defeating the High Nobles. It would likely featuring Ange and Hilda's younger sisters (Sylvia and...well, Hilda) leading the Resurgent Empire with rivaling Ragna-mails; special mention could be that they'd even be compared to younger, genderbent versions of Reinhard and Kircheis. Maybe Misty Rosenblum or Naomi of the tr. game could get involved as well, due to the latter's Anti-Nihilist nature who can change even Embryo, of all people.
    • Jersey Club: Considering he would have two planetary empires and three destructive weapons on his side, not to mention finding a hobby outside of ruling with the Jersey Club (humorously) being one of his activities.

  • For Yang/Julian:
    • The Sunrider Crew: Especially since Kryska looks like a younger, genderbent Foil to Yang Wenli.
    • Ichika Orimura: In contrast to Lux Arcadia above, he is someone who prefers staying out of fights and would want a normal life despite his special abilities in piloting an IS. His power to recognize enemy attack patterns may also come in handy and be refined upon learning under Yang and eventually Julian.
    • The Bebop: They both belong to epic Space Opera series and are comparably laid-back in nature.

Playable Units for both sides.

  • For the Empire:
    • Reinhard in the Brunhild
    • Kircheis in the Barbarossa, until his death.
    • Mittermeyer in the Beowulf
    • Reuenthal in the Tristan

  • For the Alliance:
    • Yang Wenli in the Hyperion, later replaced by Merkatz
    • Dusty Attenborough in the Triglav
    • Julian Mintz in a Spartanian
    • Oliver Poplin in his Spartanian
    • Katerose in her Spartanian

Bosses fought in the series.
  • Otto von Braunschweig, with Baron Flegel and Merkatz as minibosses
  • Karl Gustav Kempf in Geiersberg Fortress
  • Oskar von Reuenthal, especially during his rebellion against Reinhard
  • Reinhard von Lohengramm himself in the Brunhild

Special Dialogues among the Empire or Pro-Empire factions.
Special mention goes to him where he gives "The Reason You Suck" Speech to other heroes, or at least delivers very good points against them, even as a Villain Protagonist of sorts (Almost to meta-levels with complaints against such characters). And for those he respects acting more of a proper conversation even before an actual fight.
  • Vs Ange. Specifically deconstructing her as a Fallen Princess by stating how she changed for the far worse by stooping to near Straw Nihilist levels. He will even top it off by saying she has betrayed everything her parents believed in her and would have earned his more respect as Angelise Ikaruga Misurugi by being more considerate of her own allies, let alone what she says.
Ange: I would rather die than go by that name [Angelise Ikrauga Misurugi] again!
Reinhard: Then die. What good will your rebellious nature that do compared to the vastness of space and many dignified people before you, the dignity you once had yourself? Under that excuse of a human being, it would have been acceptable, but he is now long dead, and the world has changed. You ridicule and even slander the virtues that even your close allies follow, including the concept of family and friendship. You have forsaken those who looked up to you, known and unknown, and even abandoned your family, including your deceased mother and father. And you still claim you deserve to do what you please? Not even your anger for home country will never excuse your behavior, rather, it will give any decent human being conviction to put you down. You will be remembered not as a warrior who fight for her freedom but a rabid dog who bites any hand laid out to you, friend or foe alike, verbally and physically. Is that how you want to go out?

  • Vs Durandal, especially with his view of eugenics and his Destiny Plan.
Reinhard: A world where genes determine everything? That is the most insufferable excuse of a world ever imaginable. Individuals do not have control over their genes, and genes do not determine the talents of an individual. By thinking genes determine everything, you have thrown away your talent and respect from all those who once favored you. Now, you are nothing more than a worthless man who follows the whims of others.
  • Vs Lelouch vi Britannia / Zero
    • The two will certainly give a "Not So Different" Remark to each other. Lelouch would see Reinhard as Schneizel without any of his major flaws. Or alternatively, he would even begrudgingly admit that the eventual Kaiser is more than a Worthy Opponent but superior to him in many ways.

Special Dialogues involving the Alliance or Pro-Alliance factions.
A special mention for those involving Yang include What the Hell, Hero? moments for letting so many people die and even his own nation fall just because of his inability to disobey a democratic government, no matter how corrupt it is.

The Gaiden stories will be mentioned or directly involved.

Reactions of key events during the Imperial Civil War, including:
  • Olvesser being sent to Geiersburg to be executed by his own allies as a traitor
  • Fighting Marquis von Littenheim, who fires on his own allies to escape, only to killed by them in retribution.
  • The Westerland Massacre, which results in a massive Enemy Mine with all parties rallying behind Reinhard.
  • Kircheis’s death being felt by everyone, Pro-Empire and Pro-Alliance alike.

…will be even more humiliating when absolutely no one accepts his one-on-one battle provocation and go as far as to further humiliate him.
  • Ange would even say that as vile as he is, she decides he is Not Worth Killing just because he is that disgusting.

Bucock’s death will earn a Due to the Dead from everyone.
  • Because his Final Speech is so powerful that anyone would find him a true hero and fighter for freedom, even when against a benevolent dictator.

The Westerland Massacre and its repercussions
  • It could even be worse than a nuclear strike and instead be an Earth-Shattering Kaboom, which is seen as even worse than the series’ Nuclear Weapons Taboo.
  • No doubt Even Evil Has Standards where irredeemable villains would assist Reinhard in taking down the High Nobles.
  • Of course, someone other than Kircheis would call out Reinhard (or Oberstein) for letting it happen for the sake of PR.
