Spoilers Off applies to Wild Mass Guessing pages. You Have Been Warned.

This movie takes place in Next Sunday A.D. of the RWBY-verse
The gang has found a way out of their current predicament, Ruby and Jaune have gotten some much-needed therapeutic help, and they were able to rebuild Beacon Academy, where they now continue their studies (or maybe even became teachers themselves). They also switched back to their old costumes, perhaps symbolic of how they're 'picking up where they left off' academically.
  • Jossed. Going by the final scene, it takes place during their time in Atlas, in a hijacked training simulation of some sort.
  • Possibly confirmed for Part 2 though, since it's rumored to be set after Volume 9.

Whatever brought the Justice League to Remnant also brought some of their enemies there with them
Because who DOESN'T want to see what Lex Luthor or the Joker could do with their technology?
  • Jossed. The only DC villain to show up (in the first film, anyway) is Kilg%re.

Ideas for possible character interactions
  • Yang absorbing a hit from Superman with her Semblance and using that power for a Megaton Punch.
  • Weiss using her glyphs on the Flash to either counter or enhance his speed.
  • The inevitable joke comparing Blake to Catwoman and Nora to Harley Quinn.
  • Cyborg and Yang empathizing with each other about their prosthetics.
  • Ruby and Flash in a race to see who's fastest.
  • Various characters getting a little emotional from how much Wonder Woman reminds them of Pyrrha.
    • All Jossed, unfortunately.

Whatever brought the Justice League to Remnant also affected Remnant
This is because there are hints that the Remnant characters memories were affected by something, given how Blake didn't know that the CCT was down even though Kali said it was like it was obvious.
  • Technically Jossed. Remnant itself isn't affected by what occurs, but everyone's memories are jumbled by the process.

Part 2 will be an adaptation of DC/RWBY
The RWBY characters will be brought to the DCU, where they'll be animated similarly to either the DC Animated Universe, Young Justice, the Tomorrowverse, or a completely new style altogether.
  • Confirmed, and the second part will be animated in RWBY's style.

The second antagonist
At the end of the film, Kilg%re hinted at someone helping him make the simulation to trap both their enemies, "using Dust from his world" to power it. And the final scene shows that the Remnant group got involved via some training simulation gone wrong in Atlas. This second enemy remains unidentified by the end, and will probably be the focus of the second film. Putting all the information together, the likely culprit is the only tech-minded male of Team RWBY's enemies, Dr. Watts.
  • Alternatively the secondary villain is Ra's Al Ghul working as someone pulling the strings, trapping the heroes in a virtual world to be able to enact his plans. Because let's be honest here, anytime a story mentions him in passing he'll show up later on as the true mastermind behind the entire plot.
    • That wouldn't make any sense, given that Kilg%re explicitly said it was a villain from Remnant.
  • Or even more alternatively, it'll be a villain that we haven't seen for years, Merlot from RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. He could be retconned as having survived the destruction of his lab from the game, and is returning for revenge. Watts at this point (assuming this follows some version of Volume 7's timeline) is also supposed to be incognito; drawing this kind of attention to himself is incredibly reckless. Additionally, because of Merlot's relative obscurity as a RWBY character, he's not beholden to any particular plot issues or continuity that other tech-related characters in Remnant would be.
  • It could very well be Dr. Watts as while we don't know who he's voicing, we do know his voice actor, Christopher Sabat, is part of the voice cast of part 2, but he could also be voicing someone else.
    • Watts is confirmed. He managed to cheat death by creating a backup of his consciousness.

Jessica's Status
Rewatching the ending of the movie, Jessica is notably the only one of the heroes who wasn't shown entering the portal back home as the film cuts back to the RWBY cast back in Atlas. Who's to say that she didn't follow them back to Remnant? We know there's going to be a part two, so...

will Jaune get a Lantern ring in part 2
Jaune be threw alot in the RWBY series and in the movie he use those experience to help Jessica showing he has a strong will So it wouldn't be surprised if a ring chose him.

In Part 2, Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld will appear
Just a fun interaction between a character with actual magic and characters with the pseudo-magical Semblances.

Weiss is using Captain Cold's cyclotron gun in Part 2
Between Ruby using a scythe/pitchfork hybrid that looks like one the Scarecrow has used and Blake carrying a bo staff and sword that resemble Deathstroke's (specifically the Arkhamverse design), it's been theorized that Team RWBY won't be able to bring their own weapons into the DCU for whatever reason, and are instead making do with weapons that the Justice League have taken from various supervillains over the years. Therefore, it would make sense for Weiss to be using Len Snart's Cold Gun in place of Myrtenaster's Dust-firing capability.

Team JNR absent in part 2?
The trailer seems to only show Team RWBY having been brought to the DC universe. Any guesses as to why the League might not have been able to bring the others over as well?
  • Might be Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Trailer in play, or maybe not
  • Part 2 is rumored to take place after Volume 9, so Team RWBY might have left Team JNR to cover both teams' roles in watching over Vacuo in their absence

Given that it seems more and more likely that Watts is the RWBY villain of Part 2, he likely survived by activating his Semblance.
Watts is already established to have never bothered to unlock his Semblance, and he was at risk of being buried and burned to death at the end of Volume 8. It's possible that he ended up unlocking his Semblance, possibly some kind of "Ghost in the Machine" ability that allowed him to link into technological magic stuff to survive in some form. Fitting, given his role in life.
  • Jossed; he just made a backup of his mind at some point before his death.

Weiss wasn't depowered in the DC Universe, but turned into a Homo Magi
While the rest of Team RWBY got powers loosely or thematically related to their abilities and skills on Remnant, Weiss is seemingly left without anything. Since her glyphs are the closest thing to magic without actually being magic, it's arguable that her powers translated to magic and without the knowledge to draw on it she couldn't access it.
