I'm... ready?

Vs SpongeBob Parodies is a Friday Night Funkin' Game Mod featuring opponents from parody animations based off the iconic show, SpongeBob SquarePants.

One Monday morning, BF and GF are bored after watching SpongeBob SquarePants, so they decide to go on YouTube and search up SpongeBob videos. Before long, they come across a SpongeBob parody that's...a little different from the rest. BF and GF both shrug and decided to watch one, but it turns out this SpongeBob parody includes the both of them. This is not an ordinary fan made SpongeBob animation, but this one is certainly fucking confusing.

Despite not being a creepypasta mod, the format is similar to Vs Sonic.exe and Friday Night Funkin': Mario's Madness where Boyfriend faces different versions of the iconic characters across multiple parodies. On June 10th 2022, the mod was updated into V2 with more characters. V3 released on August 4th. It can be downloaded here.

This mod provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Ugliness: SickPants are redesigned to fit the crudier designs of SpongeBob SickPants: while Boyfriend is just given visible gums alongside his hat being ripped and dopier expressions, Girlfriend is just plain unpleasant to look at, with her being given a a large grin that exposes her teeth and gums in addition to messier hair, knobby knees, and a dress so tight you can see nipples. D-Sides Boyfriend isn't much better, with vomit drooling down his mouth and a clear yellow stain on his crotch.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Boyfriend and Girlfriend are nazis in the Wolfensponge week.
  • Adapted Out: D-Sides Girlfriend is comepletely absent in the D-Sides remix of "Stomach Flu".
  • Ambiguously Evil: The Popsicle SpongeBob is visibly deformed, and its motives for fighting the Popsicle Boyfriend are unknown.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: A deformed SpongeBob popsicle and a Boyfriend popsicle come to life and rap with each other, much to the real Boyfriend and Girlfriend's confusion. This also seems to apply to the Bouncy House and Furnace, unfortunately.
  • And Now for Someone Completely Different: Girlfriend takes over her boyfriend's spot for the Bob-Sponge week, since BF was unfortunately murdered by Mr.Krabs before the week takes place.
  • Art Shift: Unlike most mods, Boyfriend and Girlfriend are never shown in their animations from the base game. They always change artstyle depending on the animation they're in.
  • Ax-Crazy:
    • SpongeBob and Patrick in the SickPants parody regularly murder people and eat the flesh of their victims. SpongeBob went to the Krusty Cock and killed a fish just to serve Patrick his own twisted take on a Krabby Patty, only for it to be All for Nothing when Patrick already ate Squidward's flesh.
    • Mr. Krabs from Bob Sponge as well, who partakes in human trafficking for money. He managed to kill Boyfriend!
  • Creepy Children Singing: Overlaps with Ominous Latin Chanting. The beginning of "Inflatable Nightmare" features a group of children singing offscreen to undermine the horror that is the SpongeBob Bounce House.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • In "Human Trafficking", Mr. Krabs is revealed to have killed Boyfriend by wearing his skin on his head.
    • In "Purgatory", Revenge SpongeBob killed Matt.
  • Easy-Mode Mockery: If botplay is turned on, the screen will display "BABY MODE".
  • The Many Deaths of You: Each of the main weeks has a unique game over animation.
    • In "We Gotta Get SpongeBob Back!", Boyfriend will turn into dust and blow away, just like Squidward's friends when he went into the pocket dimension and dared to look back. Restarting will make Gruntilda's silhouette appear laughing like at the end of the animation.
    • In "SpongeBob SickPants", Boyfriend will throw up.
    • In "bobsponge", Mr. Krabs will cut off Girlfriend's devil horns while SpongeBob calls him out for it.
  • Musical Nod: Multiple songs in the mod contain a riff from "Grass Skirt Chase", the quintessential chase music heard in countless SpongeBob episodes.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The narrator doing the countdown to start each song is the French Narrator who would often narrate at the beginning of some SpongeBob episodes and reading how long something takes.
    • The game over theme is a remix of "Woe is me". Specifically the version Mr. Krabs played on the "world's smallest violin" in "Squilliam Returns".
    • In "Money Offer" and "Human Trafficking", Girlfriend will use her free hand to point in the direction of the note she sings, like in the tutorial for the original game.
    • Boyfriend's design in the SpongeBob's Revenge is based off the human characters from those animations, just made short to fit with Boyfriend's height.
  • No Fair Cheating: If the player tries to press the 7 number key on any song, the game shames them for cheating and then sends them to "Anomaly".
  • Press X to Not Die: During "Human Trafficking", Mr. Krabs will try to snap Girlfriend with his claws, and dodging it requires pressing a specific arrow key. SpongeBob's TV will display a countdown to when he'll strike and the arrow to press to dodge it.
  • Shout-Out:
    • During "Human Trafficking", Girlfriend and Mr. Krabs sing a section from "Challeng-Edd", specifically from "The End" Mix.
    • In "Rock and Roll", there's a poster of Bambi looking at a SpongeBob doll with the words "Bambi is a big fan of SpongeBob".
  • Token Good Teammate:
    • Although not exactly sane, Squidward is only trying to find his version of SpongeBob, and doesn't appear to have any malicious intentions unlike the other opponents in the mod.
    • SpongeBong HempPants has no ill intent whatsoever, and just wants to smoke some weed with Boyfriend. Fittingly, his songs are also the most laid back in the entire mod.
    • Robot Chicken SpongeBob is enraged to find out that Mr. Krabs has been killing other sea creatures and making them into the food served at the Krusty Krab.
    • Pamtri SpongeBob is only trying to camp, and doesn’t seem to show any ill intent. Unfortunately, a “Sea Bear” (Santiago) shoots him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: The Bouncy House seems to eat children, judging by how it’s second song is named Feed Him. The child versions of Boyfriend and Girlfriend are clearly scared of it as well.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: A variation. The week including the Spongebob Bouncy House and the freeplay song "Charcoal" seem to take place during BF and GFs childhood.
