Video Game / Vs Hell Reborn

A mod owned by Zaffrodite and directed by Syndicate, VS Hell Reborn was a mod based around Sonic.EXE and Friday Night Funkin', akin to the likes of Vs Sonic.exe. The mod itself was planned to have an expansive storyline connected to the likes of Lord X as he tears Mobius apart bit-by-bit, alongside others fighting to stop him in his tracks.

The mod was eventually cancelled/put on hiatus due to the director's decision to leave the EXE community for a while, as well as complications with the owner's platform. The first demo can be downloaded here, while the cancelled build can be found here.

This mod contains examples of the following tropes:

• Adaptational Curves: In the songs where she appears in the background, Girlfriend looks significantly more eye-catching, with her top giving a cleavage view and her bottom half only down to shorts and boots.
• After the End: All the "Encore" remixes of the songs take place following the mod's main storyline.
• Body Horror: In their EXE states, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman look truly horrifying, with Tails having several areas of flesh exposed, Knuckles with his head impaled by a wooden pike and his brain exposed, and Eggman's intestines dangling out of his body.
• Composite Character: In this mod, Tails Doll's appearance is a mix between his model from Sonic R, and sporting his claws from Sonic Shorts.
• The Dog Bites Back: Throughout "Revenge" and its Encore remix, Lord X's three victims regain their free will and take one final stand against their assimilator, aiming to help Boyfriend and Girlfriend escape safely. In addition, Eggman proudly proclaims that he WILL beat the dark matter monster this time around.
• Dual Boss:
  • In the Prologue, "Tyrant Encore" has Lord X and Tails.EXE fighting Knuckles together. They also go it together after Knuckles is killed and reanimated during regular "Tyrant".
  • In the main week, Lord X and Xenophanes fight Boyfriend together in "Persistence" and "Revenge".
  • Inverted for Week Metal's "Decayed", which has Boyfriend and Metal Sonic fighting against Eggman.EXE for the last time.
• Face Death with Dignity: Eggman, at the tail end of the Prologue, is fully aware of what's going to happen, willing to go down fighting and leaving Metal Sonic in his will to help finish the job.
• Grand Finale: The mod itself appears to be set up like this, with Boyfriend and Girlfriend taking on the hedgehog terrors one last time and tying up any loose ends with survivors.
• Imposter Forgot One Detail:
  • While disguised during both versions of "Best Friends Forever" and in the Encore version of "Tyrant", Lord X doesn't seem great at keeping up appearances in this case. For instance, a giveaway Tails missed was the raspy voice, which he passed off as Sonic having a sore throat. When seeing him personally, Lord X's disguise his dilated pupils, the whiskers slightly visible on the sides of his muzzle, and the shoes having black buckles instead of the signature white.
  • This extends to the disguise cast upon Tails following his demise and reanimation. While mostly convincing, his eyes are blurred out to prevent suspicions, and he shows a more feral jaw in his right pose during "Tyrant".
  • Naturally, this is a mainstay for EXE/Faker.
• Let's Get Dangerous!: As soon as Lord X shows up in regular "Tyrant", Knuckles is immediately prepared to go on the offensive for what he did to Tails. He's like this right off the bat in "Tyrant Encore", however.
• Suddenly Speaking: Boyfriend himself gets this once Lord X tells him to ease off with his usual "beep-boop" talk.
