"You've been running through someone's mind ALL day long."

VIVIDLOPE is a Retraux Puzzle Platformer by jaklub, released on May 19, 2023 for PC.

You play as a rabbit named Cerise, attempting to find her friend Ecru after they both are sucked into the VIVIDSCAPE. To get there, she must make her way through nine levels, filled with multiple stages full of tiles to paint, a la Q*bert. However, gravity doesn't always work as expected, and waves of enemies are consistently coming at you.

VIVIDLOPE contains examples of:

  • And Your Reward Is Clothes: Beating levels unlocks new hats for purchase in the shop.
  • Anti-Frustration Features: You can buy powerups in the shop and use them in levels if you're having a tough time; however, doing so will decrease the best rank you can get.
  • Bizarrchitecture: Gravity is based on the floor beneath you, whether that floor used to be a wall, a ceiling, or what-have-you.
  • Endless Game: A separate gamemode allows you to play a set of levels to try to get as many points as possible.
  • Escort Mission: As Cerise, after finding Ecru unconscious in the VIVIDCORE, you must play through a seven-part stage where you carry him out of the VIVIDSCAPE. If your Power drops to zero at any point, you immediately lose a life.
  • Friendly Shopkeeper: In the Atrium, you can talk to Rose or Lime, if you're playing as Ecru to purchase new hats or items to use during gameplay.
  • Gameplay Grading: There are eleven possible ranks you can get for a stage, ranging from E to S+ (playing on Hard mode replaces S+ with the V rank). Getting the highest rank involves painting every tile, getting both bonus fruits, having a high Power, getting a long chain, and not taking any damage. However, using items will cause the highest rank you can get to decrease.
  • Hub Level: The Atrium is its own stage, featuring portals to each of the levels (some of which have a small demonstration of a mechanic), various NPCs, and a shopkeeper.
  • Marathon Level: The Finale is a seven-part stage following Cerise finding Ecru in the VIVIDCORE and attempting to get him out. You also can't let your power fall to zero at any point during the stage, and every part must be filled in 100% to continue.
  • Post-End Game Content: Beating the game allows you to play as Ecru, who is faster than Cerise, but has a harder time gaining Power and is slower on already-painted tiles. Beating every stage in a file also unlocks Gauntlet Mode, another score-based gamemode where you play a random stage from each level.
  • Scoring Points: The game's Endless and Gauntlet Modes are focused more on gaining points, through painting tiles and keeping a high Power. Bonus points are gained through collecting fruits and painting every tile on the stage, and you gain an extra life for 15,000 points (and every 30,000 thereafter).
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: Cerise, Ecru, and Miss Noir are all voiced using various VOCALOID:AI voicebanks. The Green Goo also uses computer-generated voicelines.
  • Video-Game Lives: By default, you have two extra lives for every stage, although you can purchase more through the shop for a maximum of seven spares. If you retry or return to the Atrium with more than two lives, you'll be deducted one.
