Only If is a surreal first person adventure-puzzle game. You play as Anthony Clyde, who, after a heavy night of partying, wakes up to find himself in an unfamiliar bed with no memory of the previous night's events. Unfortunately, escaping these unfamiliar, opulent surroundings will prove to be no easy task, as an unseen, menacing, radio-bound antagonist will stop at nothing to block Anthony's path at every turn.

Can be purchased on Steam here.

Only If contains examples of:

  • All Just a Dream: Implied when Anthony wakes up again after a platforming puzzle, only to run into a mirror instead of a hallway.
  • Big Fancy House: An inexplicably huge mansion that Anthony woke up in, compared to the suburban-sized house from the intro. It's also still littered with decor from last night's party.
  • Clock Punk: A level in the Black Pawn path is filled with enormous clockwork gears and mechanisms.
  • Have a Nice Death: Not meeting Vinny's terms in time often ends with a bullet in the head.
  • Mission Control Is Off Its Meds: Vincent "Vinny" Graves, the house's owner. He gives you almost mafia-esque orders via conveniently placed radios, mixed in with disturbingly calm death threats now and then.
  • Morton's Fork: A third into the game, Anthony enters the house's living room with two doors, each of which will lead him down a different path depending on which pawn Anthony takes from the chessboard. Vinny describes this choice as follows:
Vinny: "One of these doors lead to your freedom, but sacrifices Samantha Graves. While the other door sacrifices yourself to save Samantha Graves."
  • Shout-Out:
  • Shooting Gallery: The final series of puzzles in the White Pawn path consist of shooting vases with a gun, some of which release strange auras that let the player jump higher. Then Vinny throws Anthony into an entire grid of vases as a final test to reach the real exit, complete with a machine gun on round two.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Vinny has a tendency to do this when the mood strikes.
Vinny: "Let's start with you moving over to that mirror."
    Anthony: "W-wait, mirror? I don't see a mirror."
Vinny: "START LOOKING FOR IT! YOU BLITHERING IDIOT! YOU DUMBNUT!"
  • Surprise Incest: Samantha confesses at the end that she didn't know she and Anthony were related until Vinny told her.
  • Super Window Jump: At the end of the White Pawn path. With no exists left, the screen goes black, and Anthony breaks the living room window and runs outside after Samantha mentions that they're Late for School. Vinny even lampshades that he could have done this much earlier.
  • The Voiceless: Invoked in the White Pawn path. During a heated argument, Vinny mysteriously takes Anthony's voice away. He returns it after Anthony uses a slot machine. For extra Mind Screw, the two characters switch voices for a short period of time.
