A 1996 Point-and-Click Game based on the film of the same name, developed and published by Activision for Windows and Macintosh.
The game follows the plot of the movie, but features the player in the role of Jim Hawkins. Includes live action video with original footage of the Muppets as well as Billy Connolly (Billy Bones) and Tim Curry (Long John Silver).
This game contains examples of:
- Anachronism Stew: Everything from the movie, plus additional things like the ability to purchase a superhero outfit.
- An Odd Place to Sleep: Hawkins is required to sleep inside of an empty barrel.
- Ascended Extra: The Ghost of Captain Flint takes an active role in your quest to find the treasure, all while taunting you through an Apocalyptic Log of messages in a bottle.
- Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: The 3 CD-ROMs are colored red, blue, and green. When it's time to switch discs, the image of the required CD is displayed and Stevenson says "the CD you want looks like this."
- Covered in Gunge: When escaping the Benbow Inn, you are covered in molasses. When you arrive in Bristol, you have to wipe it off and get replacement clothes.
- Dress Code: The Spyglass Inn requires patrons to wear an eyepatch that matches their outfit.
- Exposition Fairy: Stevenson, "your adventure parrot".
- Eyepatch of Power: The Spyglass Inn has a Dress Code requiring an eyepatch that matches your outfit. Taking it off scandalizes everyone and gets you kicked out.
- Hair-Trigger Explosive: Picking up dynamite in order to reach the treasure map under it is enough to light it.
- Live-Action Cutscene: Each scene includes new live action footage of the Muppets and cast (except for Jim Hawkins since that is you).
- Meaningful Name: Stevenson is named after Robert Louis Stevenson, the author of the original Treasure Island novel.
- Pie in the Face: The clothier in Bristol tasks you with shooting pies at passing pirates while avoiding potential customers.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Unlike in the film, Billy Bones has naught but a Heroic BSoD.
- Take a Third Option: Played with. Gonzo lays out two choices: A) stay in a room with dynamite and incoming pirates or B) jump out the window. Rizzo complains that there isn't a choice C.
