Mach Breaker: Numan Athletics 2 is a Arcade Game released by Namco in 1995. The sequel to the Numan Athletics, up to four players can now choose seven new - and selectable - Numans. Instead of traveling around the world, Numans compete on an island.

The controls consist of three buttons. Generally speaking, you move by pressing the left and right buttons, and perform actions by pressing the middle button. What each button does depends on the event.

The Numan athletes are:

  • Johnny Sanders, from the United States, age 25.
  • Makoto Kotobuki, from Japan, age 19note .
  • Masala Tikka Masala, from India, age 104.
  • Long Rui Huan, from China, age 41.
  • Sophia Rayleigh, from the United Kingdom, age 24.
  • Michael Fletcher, from Jamaica, age 28.
  • Karl Weisemann, from Germany, age 37.

This game provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Nationality/Dub Name Change: In the non-Japan Asia version, Makoto Kotobuki (Japanese) is Li Shao-Yen (Chinese).
  • Ambiguously Brown: Sophia Rayleigh is from the UK, but appears to be of unspecified African ancestry and has an ethnically-neutral name. Averted with Michael Fletcher, a Jamaican.
  • Catch and Return: Because javelin-throwing would be too simple for a Numan, the Bombs Away event has them catching an armed missile out of the air, then throwing it back as far as it can go.
  • Convection, Schmonvection: The Rapid Jump event has the athletes making their way across a sea of lava with no protective gear, using only a thin metal platform as a jumping base.
  • Eagleland: Like his predecessor before him, Johnny Sanders shows his American pride. In the Hyper Glider event, he even uses the United States flag as a glider.
  • Energy Weapon: Numans appear to be universally capable of this, as they use energy blasts to hold off the monsters in Beast Hole.
  • Fragile Speedster: Masala is the fastest character, but has the lowest power.
  • Jack of All Stats: Johnny is the only character with 3 in both speed and power.
  • Kaiju: One of the events, Monster Drag, has you dragging a giant monster through a city. If you don't qualify, it steps on you.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Makoto Kotobuki wears one.
  • Mighty Glacier: Karl is the strongest character, but has the lowest speed.
  • Optional Boss: Sharon from the first game shows up for one final race after all events are cleared. If you win, she'll say, "Wonderful!" and give you flowers.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: One of the events, Beast Hole, has the competitors traveling on an automatic platform through an underground tunnel, firing bursts of energy at utterly bizarre giant-bacteria-like monsters that are crawling after them.
  • Prehensile Hair: Masala has gigantic hair that he can form into arms for events requiring strength, or into a functional glider for Hyper Glider.
  • Stout Strength: Long is comically rotund (to Balloon Belly levels - he uses his fat as a glider!), but is only behind Karl as far as strength.
  • Super-Speed: Like in its prequel, the first event is always the Numan equivalent of the 100-yard dash, where the competitors move in excess of 100 MPH. If you clear all events, you repeat the event against Sharon for the finale; in multi-player, only the winner participates.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Long is extremely goofy-looking, but his wife is a beautiful woman. Both their kids (the boy and girl) take after Long.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Long doesn't wear a shirt in gameplay, though he does don one when he goes back to work in his ending.
  • Wreathed in Flames: Sophia doesn't use a glider in Hyper Glider - instead, she summons a phoenix-shaped sheath of fire around herself.
