Godzilla: Daikaiju Battle Royale is fan game to based on the Godzilla franchise. It was created by Alex Merdich and is available on his site. The game is being constantly updated with new fighters and other features. The game has been updated with new monsters and a new menu and is continuing to be so with new monsters, battle grounds and music. The updated version can be played here.

Please note it may take a while to load.

The game has the examples of

  • Adaptational Villainy: Notably subverted: Biollante is a heroic character in Story Mode as she is canonically, as opposed to most video games that have her be a villain.
  • An Ice Kaiju: Glacies, has ice-based attacks and can freeze solid his opponents with a special beam coming from his tail. He isn't invulnerable to other ice-based attacks though.
  • Alien Invasion: The inhabitants of Planet X invade like in the Showa series.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Godzilla 2001 has to charge his breath a long time to use the electric breath attack but the damage output is devastating if you manage to pull it off.
  • Boring, but Practical: Minya's tiny size makes him invulnerable to certain attacks.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: If you play as the alien-aligned monster.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Some of the monsters fighting against one another makes for a good scenario like this. The Super X has a FLARE for one of its attacks!
  • The Dividual: One of the strangest characters in the game is Manda and the Gotengo, which fight as a single character with Manda wrapped around the Gotengo.
  • Easter Egg: If you type 1131954 in the password, it's actually the release date of Godzilla. It unlocks everything.
    • Applies to the other unlock codes as well, which all reference the monster they unlock in some way. The code "gino", for example, unlocks Zilla, since fans sometimes call him "Godzilla In Name Only".
    • Several fighters have special death animations, such as the Heisei King Ghidorah losing his middle head if you finish him with a beam attack.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Godzilla 1954's ending is very ambiguous (he has the same ending as his brethren, only ending with "Or is it?"), whether he intends to betray humanity or not. The music of the destruction of Tokyo drives this further.
    • The same is true for Shin Godzilla 4th form.
  • Guest Fighter: The 1962 Toho version of King Kong returns for a rematch.
    • Additionally, Legendary Beast Wolfman from the obscured fanfilm of the 70s, Wolfman Vs Godzilla also appears in the game as well.
    • Glacies, the creator's fanmade kaiju from one of his previous games, Video Game/Exitium.
  • Guide Dang It!: Super Mechagodzilla is able to use all three attacks in G-Crusher fashion. How to use it? Press all three attack buttons at once. No source revealed it so far, so be a witness of the first one.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Apparently the explanation for why Manda is wrapped around the Gotengo and the two fight together.
  • Hitbox Dissonance: Oh lord, so much; You could be not even close to your foe's beam, and still get hit anyways, regardless of where you stand.
  • Improbable Infant Survival: After defeat, Minya just runs away instead of falling defeated or exploding.
  • Kaiju: Obviously.
  • Kill It with Ice: Kiryu, the Atragon, and Glacies are capable of this.
  • Lethal Joke Character: Minya has good kicks, an atomic breath capable of taking off two segments of a foe's lifebar, and his height makes him impossible to hit with certain attacks. Aside from that, his smoke rings can be used to KO weak opponents, and some of his roars are taunts!
    • Shin Godzilla Anime from the Shin Godzilla vs Shin Chan special.
  • Lag Cancel: The roaring animation can be interrupted by walking or punching/kicking in the case of the flying monsters. This is useful for recharging fast in the Insane mode.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Most fighters with super charge modes need to be at low health and full energy. With the exception of his tail whip, all of Shin Godzilla's special moves can only be done in super charge mode and can be activated at any time regardless of how much energy he has as long as there's some. Should he run out he will fall asleep to recharge.
    • Spacegodzilla comes with crystals on the stage that allow him to recharge faster, replace his walking animation with a faster floating animation and allow him to use several new attacks he loses should too many crystals be destroyed.
  • One-Hit Kill: GMK Godzilla's Lightning Empowered Atomic Ray, but only at "Unstoppable" level.
  • One-Winged Angel: Some monsters, such as Fake Godzilla and Monster X can do this when their health is low enough.
  • Rugged Scar: If you have the mouse over the 2002 version of Godzilla and hit shift, you get to play the 2003 version which has a nasty red scar on his chest.
  • Shown Their Work: The creators of the game managed to put every bits and pieces of the franchise, including the animated series Godzilla: The Series, which this game's version of Zilla is based off.
  • Simple, yet Awesome: The American 2014 Godzilla doesn't have to charge his second shot, always having it on standby after the first shot thus allowing quick shots that can be used immediately or saved for later. His spines glow to let the player know he or she has a second shot they don't need to charge. It also makes the kiss of death faster as it skips the charging animation.
  • Super Mode: Some monsters, such as Godzilla 1994, Mothra Larva 2003, and King Kong can do this when their health is low enough.
    • Other than his tail whip, Shin Godzilla has no special move, all his energy attacks from his Atomic Breath, tail laser and fin lasers are super charge mode only.
  • Villain Protagonist: Godzilla 1954, GMK Godzilla, Shin Godzilla and alien faction monsters.
