Tropes

  • Affably Evil: Even though they are trying to keep boyfriend from leaving and force him to stay, Torrent proves to be a pretty chill guy if not a bit of a troll.
  • Art Shift: Almost all of the freeplay songs’ art is in the style of Week 6’s pixel art.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Nitro cares for Pringles quite a bit. When Torrent arrives and boots Pringles off the DJ booth, Nitro is deeply saddened.
  • Get Out!: In the good ending of week 2, Nitro kicks Boyfriend from their server.
  • Interface Screw: Taken to extreme measures in Maelstrom. The screen changes constantly from shrinking to the point of your desktop appearing, moving sideways, shaking, swerving, having fake error popups, to even splitting into multiple windows.
  • Inside a Computer System: The premise of both week is Boyfriend getting sucked into his computer and having to face somebody who wants to keep him there.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Like in the base game, Boyfriend only speaks in beep boops. However, the text boxes translate what he is saying.
  • Promoted to Playable: Torrent is the player character of “Shockwave”.
  • Spoofed with Their Own Words: The Raid: Shadow Legends plug in Torrent's week is an actual sponsorship for the game that Phantom Fear took money to implement. The context behind it and Phantom's own admission all but state that the deal was a successful attempt to finesse Raid's creators into paying him to make fun of their own game.
  • Take That!: At the beginning of Torrent's week, Torrent advertises for Raid: Shadow Legends while Boyfriend's just trying to move things along, a subtle mockery of YouTube channels that have the habit of advertising for that game. It's to the point where Boyfriend jokingly calls Torrent "Mr. Shadow Legend".
Boyfriend: beep da boop? (are you like mr shadow legend or something?)
    Torrent: no, im torrent lol
