Find the Markers is a Roblox experience primarily developed by MrMarkerMaker, the creator of Marker from Battle for Dream Island. In the game, you find different variations of Marker across the land, which will each give you a badge. Some are out in the open, but others require varying degrees of effort and skill to obtain depending on their difficulty. There are currently 237 Markers to find, with more coming in the future. It is one of the most popular "Find the Badges" games on Roblox, having over 670 million visits as of December 2023.

The game can be found here.

Find the Markers provides examples of:

  • Advancing Wall of Doom: In Danger Marker's obby, a slow-moving wall of danger will advance forward, forcing you to complete it as quick as possible. If you touch the wall, you get sent back to the beginning.
  • all lowercase letters: When talking to you, most of the Markers won't capitalize their speech.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: The markers are variants of Marker from Battle for Dream Island, who is a living marker.
  • Blackout Basement:
    • Several locations, such as the Wild Card maze, are in not-quite complete darkness, making navigating them more difficult.
    • On the other hand, Black Hole Marker's cave is completely in the dark. The way to solve this is to turn on the light of the cave outside and memorize the path in the light so you can do it in the dark, since the Marker doesn't appear when the light is on.
  • Caps Lock: When talking, Dark Markery will say everything in all capital letters.
  • Cosmetic Award: The halos you can equip only serve as a milestone for when you collect all the markers in an area or beating Dark Markery under 1 minute and 15 seconds in the case for the Mayhem Halo.
  • Crossover: Had crossovers between Find the Chomiks and Find the Cornbreads. Find the Markers has a Chomik and Cornbread hidden in it, and the other two games both have a Marker available to collect.
  • Death Is a Slap on the Wrist: Only in the Dark Markery fight; if you die, you only start from the beginning of the battle and don't have to go through the whole process before the fight again. This is averted elsewhere, where you will be teleported to a checkpoint if you fail at certain points, or you'll be sent to the spawn if you die.
  • Developer's Foresight: If you somehow get Dark Markery before Purple Marker, the latter will have something to say about it after the battle:
Purple Marker: i'm sorry did you just collect me after beating one of the hardest markers in the game? i'm somehow impressed and disappointed. just... take the badge and go.
  • Easter Egg: There are some badges you can obtain that aren't Markers. Examples include:
    • Two secret badges hidden inside the mountain and at the start of Marker Chomik's area, respectively.
    • A badge obtained for saying "hi" to Purple Marker repeatedly until he gives you the badge.
    • A badge obtained for triggering every "ratio, bozo" spot in the game.
    • There are also secret Markers that aren't listed in the Markerdex, which are Poopy Blocky Marker (found by typing in "ALEXLION" in the mountain's keyboard room), Wanted Marker (seen as a "Wanted!" Poster in the Desert, though it can't actually be obtained), and Left Leg Marker (found by touching the left leg of Imslayandiknowit's clone in the Factory), the last of which is the only one that has an accompanying badge.
  • Enter Solution Here: The keyboard room in the Mountain allows you to type in codes retrieved elsewhere to get a marker or access a realm. For example, you can type in "DIFFICULTY" to access the Difficulty Chart Obby, and the creator's username to obtain Teapot Marker.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin:
    • The "die liquid" in the factory. By taking a look at the name, you can guess what happens to your character when they enter it.
    • There is a button in the snow biome with a sign labeled "die button". Pressing it makes you explode, along with giving you Explode Marker.
  • Fetch Quest: If you accept Ecosystem's Markers request, their 7 fish will scatter across the water under the Shop, and you have to retrieve of all them to collect the Marker.
  • Gotta Catch 'Em All: The primary goal is to obtain all of the Markers.
  • Gravity Screw: The Gravity Laboratory has pads that flip your character so they can fall on other platforms from different angles.
  • Idiosyncratic Difficulty Levels: While the first 3 levels are "Easy", "Medium", and "Hard", the levels after that are named differently, including "Insane", "Extreme", and "Markerous", the last of which was created for this "Find the" game.
  • Jump Scare: Parodied twice:
    • Jumpscare Marker is based on this trope. When you collect him, a traditional jumpscare won't occur, but instead an image of him will appear on-screen with the memetic Vine Boom sound effect.
    • If Wild Card catches you in the dark maze, a .png image of him will appear with another Vine Boom sound.
  • Kill and Replace: Subverted; Dark Markery aims to replace the original Marker, and since he uses a chainsaw, it can be assumed that he wants to kill him to do so, but in reality he doesn't mention killing him and the most he threatens to do is leak the details of Purple Marker's Roblox gift card.
  • Level Ate: What Candyland is based on is made obvious by its name. Various confections, such as marshmallows and lollipops, lie around, along with a Gingerbread House, chocolate rivers, and various candy-themed Markers.
  • Level in the Clouds: From the house's chimney, you can reach the Clouds area, where the clouds are solid and several Markers reside.
  • Light and Mirrors Puzzle: There is a room in the cave with 7 mirrors, with the white one in the center receiving light. You need to rotate the mirrors in a way that all of the mirrors get light, going back to the white mirror and opening the door to Quartz Marker.
  • Lily-Pad Platform: You can cross on lily pads in some bodies of water in the Washable Kingdom. Foliage Marker's area even has moving lily pads, which requires you to time your jumps more carefully.
  • Marathon Level:
    • The course for Excalibur Marker requires you to complete obstacle courses to twist swords that unlock the next obstacle course. There are 7 obstacle courses behind doors along with a main hub and lots of backtracking to open the next door, so it'll take a long while.
    • A more literal example is the path to Runner Marker. You have to walk 1,000 studs to reach him. In that case, it's just like running - or rather, walking - a marathon.
  • The Maze:
    • Forbidden Marker is located in a large maze - and a rather dark one at that.
    • There is also a maze in an unknown sector of space with completely black walls and a few Markers inside. However, it's easier to complete than Forbidden Marker's maze since it isn't in darkness and the maze is smaller.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: There is some lore in the game, but it doesn't always tie into the gameplay, which is the main goal: find all of the Markers you can.
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever spurred Dark Markery's hatred of Purple Marker is unknown. It is only mentioned as "bad beef" in the former's in-game description.
  • Quick Draw: To get Cowboy Marker, you must duel against another player. The duel is represented as this, with a "draw!" screen appearing and the player who shoots the other first winning the round and the Marker.
  • Random Event: In the Shop's basement, there is a 1/100 chance that the image of Purple Marker pointing a gun will be replaced with Clover Marker holding a gun, which will give you a badge when touched.
  • Sequence Breaking: This trope is defied for some shortcuts. If you try to sequence break in some places, you will be teleported back to spawn with a "Ratio, bozo" sound effect. Triggering all "Ratio, bozo" spots will award you a badge.
  • Shifting Sand Land: The Desert area, featuring a pyramid, various cacti, and of course, sand all around.
  • Shout-Out:
    • There are many, many references to other media in the badge and in-game descriptions of the Markers (ex. Green Marker's badge description reading "green is not a creative color"), which would be enough to warrant an entire page if listed entirely.
    • There used to be a Marker based on Dream. However, after Dream's grooming allegations, it was replaced with the Sweet Dreams Marker.
    • There is a place called the Gravity Laboratory, featuring buttons that flip your character's gravity and Markers of the Viridian and Vitellary variety. This is a reference to VVVVVV, a game with gravity-flipping as its central mechanic and characters named Viridian and Vitellary.
  • Speedrun: Invoked for one of the secret badges, where you have to beat Dark Markery in less than 1 minute and 15 seconds. Doing so will reward you with the "Speedrunner" badge and the Mayhem Halo.
  • Tightrope Walking: In some areas, there are tightropes you need to walk across (e.g. the vines between trees in the Forest), with some of the tougher ones requiring you to jump over killbricks in addition (e.g. Markerous Difficulty in the Difficulty Chart obby).
  • Timed Mission:
    • You have to manage the resources for Persimmon Marker in a certain amount of time. If the water/feritilizer/sunlight levels are too high or low, you have to start the step again.
    • In Foliage Marker's area, you must plant a seed and rush as quickly as possible through the 3 obstacle courses to get some water for the plant, which also includes the return trip back. If you don't make it on time, you'll need to plant another seed and start the process again.
  • Time Travel: By climbing the clock in the Abandoned City, you will travel back in time to the Washable Kingdom, an ancient medieval area with more Markers for you to find.
  • Violation of Common Sense: After you pray to Wild Card, Wild Marker will appear and tell you not to say "i hate wild card". If you do, you will be transported to a dark maze with Wild Card chasing you. If you beat the maze, you will be rewarded with Forbidden Marker.
  • Wintry Auroral Sky: An aurora with the Aurora Marker on it is just above the snow-capped peak of the Mountain area.
