If you are reading this I have one more listener to my soapbox, mission accomplished. I suppose I'll just expound my views on entertainment with a few random lists.
3. Metropolis: One of the most foundational movies of it's time and it is so jarring it's astounding when the ahead of their time effects are put next to really dated sic-fi and the fact this is a silent movie. For those who want to know, if I had the knowledge of theatre or music I would totally make a a Wagnerian opera based on this with set pieces not unlike those found in the recent Batman Live but put to uses other than putting the tombstone in the seriousness of the Dark Night.
2. {{Häxan}}: A masterpiece of cinema, this film has tons of disturbing visuals which shock me to this day, second in it's time except for maybe [[Phantom of the Opera]]. I like the documentary feel and as a former follower of Hollywood Satanism I can vouch for this film being entertaining under a variety of theological conditions. I would compare this to the germanic birth of a nation, using cutting edge techniques to explore a troubled history with prejudice. That is before the actual Germanic, birth of a nation; Will to Power which isn't nuanced as much as it is sickening. I couldn't picture this film being done today without it becoming an exploitative direct to DVD horror film or a small history channel gig.
1. The Passion of Joan of Arc: This film is incredibly ahead of it's time through a use of pacing which blows the odd rhythm of it's contemporaries out of the water. The actress and all the players involved are excellent and
