Descended Creator: Black Hat is voiced by creator Alan Ituriel in both Spanish and the English dub.
Fake Brit: In the English dub, Black Hat has a slimy, cockney accent, but he's voiced by creator Alan Ituriel, who is Hispanic.
God-Created Canon Foreigner: Demencia wasn't in the original internet shorts because her design wasn't fully thought of yet.
In Memoriam: The cameo of an Obelix look-alike in "BH'S Bizarre Adventure" was intentionally made to honor Albert Uderzo who passed away while the series was in production.
Keep Circulating the Tapes: Alan Ituriel's original 2012 shorts prior to the series getting picked up by Cartoon Network are no longer available on his website, "That Place To Hang Out." They can still be found on YouTube, however.
Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: Both Black Hat and 5.0.5 are voiced in English and Spanish by series creator Alan Ituriel and Markiplier, respectively.
Non-Dubbed Grunts: Markiplier's lines for 5.0.5. are the same for every dub of the show.
The Other Darrin: On October 2022, it was revealed from the credits of broadcasted reruns that a new English dub will be made for the series with a majority recast done at VOA Studios in Miami, with Ituriel and Markiplier being the only ones to reprise their roles. The pilot has also been re-recorded as well. This effect was a result from Warner Bros. merger with Discovery as well as the COVID-19 Pandemic which hindered the English production for the series and made it switch to Spanish production instead. This explains why the signage and lip-sync in the series frequently changes between both languages throughout the episodes. The dub was released on HBO Max Latin America on November 26, 2022 and premiered (along with the Spanish and Portuguese dubs) on Max in the US on May 23, 2023.
According to Sems and Sayer, they were initially approached by the studio to potentially reprise their roles. Although they expressed interest, communication immediately fell through when they revealed their rates and wanted to speak to Ituriel and Cartoon Network LA first about the proposal as they are unaware of the studio's relation to the series. They were subsequently replaced as revealed on October 2022.
Real Life Writes the Plot: Both Penumbra's and Miss Heed's Instagram reference the COVID-19 Pandemic. Special mention goes to Penumbra having to wear a mask to go outside and Miss Heed having a tour cancelled because of it.
Reclusive Artist: A. Sayer (Todd Sayre), former voice of Dr. Flug in the English dub, was credited as "A. Sayer" in the original pilot (as well as the crossover) and "Todd "Eco Vox" Asayer" not only due to union restrictions, but because Sayer himself is a very private person.
Short Run in Peru: Episodes are usually first released in Spanish for CN's Latin American feed (and YouTube channel), but Word of God says it was animated to the English dialogue. Unusually, The Lost Cases Of Elmore was first uploaded by CN Brazil, several minutes before the Latin America upload.
Trolling Creator: A tweet put out by Cartoon Network LA at the time of the first HBO Max release purported to offer the entirety of the second episode for free... but was actually an elaborate Rickroll which starred the Black Hat crew, V.I.R.U.S., and Miss Heed.
Uncredited Role: On the dubbing credits for the TV series, Markiplier is not credited as 5.0.5. nor as Black Hot, despite reprising his role for the latter. While the former may be due to how his initial recordings for the character we're untouched in dubbing, the latter may be due to union reasons since the show is non-union.
Actors were also uncredited for voicing incidentals as well, most likely due to it being unnecessary.
The Voiceless: On the English dub, for cameos of characters from Cartoon Network properties that have speaking roles, they are either muted or their dialogue has been replaced. This is due to the show being non-union would make the possibility of the actors' reprising their roles to be very unlikely.
Interestingly, Frankie Fosters' cameo in the episode "BH's Bizarre Bad-Venture" was subsequently re-recorded with an impersonator actress instead of her original actress, Grey DeLisle, presumably for the former reason.
Write Who You Know: According to Alan Ituriel, Black Hat is based on his father and 5.0.5 is based on himself as a child (which has invited some Wild Mass Guessing). On a happier note, Dr. Flug is explicitly based on Alan's best friend, to the extent of calling him to ask for his opinion when a fan asked Alan whether Flug likes pancakes. Meanwhile, Demencia, though based off villain-worshiping fangirls in general, was also inspired by the girl who introduced him to anime.
Miss Heed also has an Instagram account
