  • Box Office Bomb: Budget, $15 million. Total results, $8.8 million. Despite the best efforts of Rainn Wilson (up to and including making his own Myspace account, claiming he kidnapped his The Office co-star Jenna Fischer, and stating through the site that he'd release her only when the film made at least $18.7 million, implying that was the break-even point), the film completely flatlined at the box office, coming in at number 12 opening weekend and never recovering. It arguably would ensure Wilson's movie career wouldn't either, as he hasn't headlined a movie since. Emma Stone was lucky, though; that same weekend, she was also in The House Bunny, which despite just-as-bad reviews saw the promotion team at Happy Madison Productions propel it to number 2, though it's unlikely Stone's career would've been affected that early.
  • Creator Killer: Served not only as one for Rainn Wilson as a leading movie actor (but merely as a Star-Derailing Role due to his role on The Office), but was also part of a streak of bombs that sent production company Fox Atomic into a meltdown, as parent company and distributor 20th Century Fox would shut down the division by the end of the year due to the division's weak box office returns.
  • Dawson Casting: Matt, Curtis, and Amelia fall into this. Although Curtis and Amelia's actors, Teddy Geiger and Emma Stone, were less than two years out of high school at the time. Matt, on the other hand, fits the trope to a T with his actor, Josh Gad, being in his twenties at the time.
