• California Doubling: Exteriors set in what was supposed to be the English countryside were shot in Clear Lake, California. Additional exteriors were filmed in Santa Monica and Santa Barbara, California.
• The Red Stapler: The set design in the "Continental" sequence reportedly caused an increase in the sales of venetian blinds.
• Throw It In!: The bugle call at the beginning of the "Don't Let It Bother You" dance was developed from clowning during rehearsals, and became an in-joke in future Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films.
• Working Title: The film originally retained the play's title The Gay Divorce.
