• Colbert Bump: In November 2013, The Nostalgia Critic did a review of the comics, praising them and giving them new attention.
• Fan Sequel: Super Mario Adventures Cont'd is an unofficial continuation of the series.
• He Also Did: Leslie Swan was a senior editor for Nintendo Power and did a great deal of the writing for this comic. Aside from her current career in Nintendo game localization, she went on to voice the Princess herself in International versions of Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart 64.
• Keep Circulating the Tapes: Before Viz Media re-released the graphic novel in 2016, it was incredibly hard to find the old out of print edition, with copies of it going for hundreds of dollars online, so the only reliable way of reading it pre-2016 was unofficial scans online.
• Missing Episode: The bonus chapter loosely adapting Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins was included in the graphic novel version, but not the one concerning Princess Toadstool's birthday bash, as that one was published after the graphic novel. The 2016 reprint also leaves it out.
