  • Admiring the Abomination: The Fandom. You know what the reaction to Nightmare Fuel-iffic page 340 was?
One comment: I so want to have this as my wallpaper.
    Another comment: Seconded.
  • Colbert Bump: The comic being mentioned by name in the Overly Sarcastic Productions video about post apocalypses resulted in quite a few new readers.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: While articles talking about the comic itself tend to be accurate, this tends to frequently happen with the breakaway that the language tree from page 196 has become. Reposters frequently fail to either realize or mention that the tree was never intended to cover all world languages and/or the reason only the Indo-European and Uralic language families are shown (it's to show how Nordic languages are related to each other and other existing languages). The lower half, that is only accurate within the comic's universe, gets hit even harder with lack of context than the top one if it's included at all.
  • Creator Backlash: Minna is more reluctant to talk about both this and A Redtail's Dream as they were both written during a period of her life when she was an atheist and budding nihilist, and she'd rather focus on her more Christianity-influenced works.
  • Fan Community Nickname: Minnions, a Portmanteau of Minna (as in author of webcomic) and... well, minions.
  • God Never Said That: The Rant after Tuuri's death revealed a case of this. Word of God that was either misinterpreted or misremembered caused people to be convinced that the event in question was not going to happen. Minna admitted to have noticed that piece of Fanon a while ago, but of course couldn't correct it without giving one of the biggest plot twists of the story away.
  • Memetic Mutation:
  • Outdated by Canon:
    • The family tree was published almost three years into the comic's existence. In the meantime, fanfic writers had come up with their own idea of the exact number of generations there had been between the Distant Prologue and the present timeframe and names for both seen and unseen family members of the main cast. The canon tree tossed many of those out the window.
    • The God Never Said That situation above resulted in fanfics depicting the time after the first expedition assuming that the entire main cast would survive Adventure I. The actual Adventure I ended with the crew "short a person".
  • Shrug of God: Happens a lot, between the fact that the comic is intended to be a long runner and Minna doesn't mind Fanon taking over for things about which she has yet to make any clear decision.
  • Throw It In!: Tuuri being a much more minor player in Adventure II resulted in her being the only major character from Adventure I (excluding Kitty) not getting their birthday mentioned in the Adventure II version of the official character profiles. When asked, Minna gave a date, forgetting that she had already picked it to be Reynir's birthday. After it was pointed out, she decided to keep it anyway.
  • What Could Have Been: Minna decided to bring the comic to a close in 2022 to work on other projects, leaving behind a significant number of unresolved plot threads.
  • Word of God: The author has a tendency to answer reader's questions in the comments at the bottom of the comic such as that Lalli is "pretty much" named after the character from Finnish history.
