• The Other Darrin: Corey Burton took over for the deceased Paul Frees as the narrator for Volume 2.
• What Could Have Been: After the release of Volume One, Freberg was approached by Broadway producer David Merrick to adapt the album (and its in-development sequel) into a stage musical. Freberg devotes a bit of his memoir It Only Hurts When I Laugh to his frustrations working with Merrick, a notorious hard-nosed emotional terrorist. The breaking point came, apparently, when Merrick demanded of Freberg "Take Lincoln out of the Civil War, he doesn't work." (Merrick also wanted to move Barbara Fritchie from the Civil War to the Revolutionary War because he thought that part of the show was missing a strong female presence.) Following Freberg's withdrawal and the subsequent litigation, Volume Two lingered in Development Hell for thirty-some years.
