Trivia / Sonic Rush

Go To

  • B-Team Sequel: Like the Sonic Advance Trilogy, these games were made by Dimps. Rush Adventure would be the end of their "original" line of games due to its underperformance, unfortunately.
  • First Appearance: This game introduced both Blaze and Doctor Eggman Nega.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Some time after 2014, the "Sonic Rush Original Groove Rush" was delisted from Spotify and iTunes (the sole exceptions being "Back 2 Back", which was also used in the 3DS version of Sonic Generations). Tracks would also stop appearing in later games, including the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games and Super Smash Bros. series would no longer include "Right There, Right On". The only track to have returned is an instrumental version of "Vela Nova" in Team Sonic Racing.
  • No Port For You: Neither Rush or Rush Adventure have seen a rerelease outside of the DS and are unlikely to see one anytime soon, making them amongst the few 2D Sonic games to not receive any rerelease. This is most likely due to the zones in both games being designed around the DS's two screens, which makes them difficult to port to single screen systems.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Ryan Drummond was to be cast as Sonic once more, before being replaced with Jason Griffith.
    • Early concept art for Blaze depicts her as a dark, flaming shadow, and concepts further along gave her a more Middle Eastern look compared her final design.
    • The E3 demo for the game originally had it to where Sonic's boost gauge was automatically refilled over time, which is not the case in the final game. Sonic also had the ability to boost in mid-air, which is also not possible in the final game. Both ideas would show up in later mainline games however; the Air Boost would be an unlockable ability in Sonic Unleashed, while the idea of the boost refilling over time would be part of its revamp in Sonic Frontiers.
    • Sonic Rush's composer, Hideki Naganuma, wanted to compose for Rush Adventure, however Sega did not let him as he was already occupied with Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! at the time.
