Trivia / Sips

Go To

For trivia related to the Yogscast in general, go here.

  • Approval of God: Sips is a fan of the "Sips Sings" series, even acting in a skit or two of theirs and eventually using one of their songs as introductory music..
  • Artist Disillusionment: Sips has openly admitted that the backlash to Garry's Mod in the comments section has started to annoy him, with him referring to the comments as a "cesspool of hate".
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer:
    • Played for laughs and done deliberately with the Chet Williams review series, which is filled to the brim with misinformation about various games.
    • His playlist that contains videos for The Hidden mistakenly labels the game as being a Gmod gametype; while Sips was playing with the same group and he's not alone in making this mistake (in no small part due to the number of knockoffs in Gmod), this isn't the case. Oddly enough, the videos themselves don't have this issue.
  • Creator Backlash:
    • A mild case with Skyrim. While he enjoyed making the series, he has repeatedly taken potshots at his lack of progress over the course of 100 episodes.
    • He tends to get bored with Minecraft quite quickly due to his relative lack of progress.
  • Doing It for the Art: Sips has admitted that he's not entirely interested in views on his channel; while he does have certain financial commitments, he'll primarily make content that he enjoys, such as Garry's Mod.
  • Fandom Nod: Sips claiming in the Race for the Wool map that he doesn't produce Minecraft videos with Sjin any more.
  • Missing Episode: "Irish Sips", an episode filmed in The Hidden: Source with Hat Films, Lewis and Turpster, has gone missing from Sips' Youtube channel for reasons unknown. It is still available on the official website, however.
  • Promoted Fanboy: He's a big fan of TotalBiscuit, and after the first meeting in which he awkwardly begged TB to say his name, he's been on TB's podcast twice, collaborated with him in video games, and even been picked by TB for the "Polaris Civil War" event.
  • Schedule Slip:
    • The vanilla Minecraft Let's Play with Sjin suffered quite a long hiatus, and came back after nearly four months.
    • Due to his moving house, this happened briefly.
  • Series Hiatus:
    • "Team Double Dragon", his joint channel with Lewis, is presently on hiatus because both of them are busy.
    • This is supposedly the case with Fallout.
    • After the birth of his daughter, Sips took a couple of weeks off. Videos have since restarted but at a slower pace.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • "Big Girl" was originally going to be a lot ruder towards fat people, if Lewis Brindley and Sparkles* are to be believed. The title was at one point "Big Bitch", so they asked him to change it and make it kinder. Given the reaction it could have caused and the divisions of opinion on the finished product as it is, this is probably for the best.
    • Sips was initially going to do a playthrough of Fallout 3, but despite his best efforts and numerous mods designed to optimise performance, the game kept crashing since it wasn't designed to run on newer computers. Instead, he started to play Fallout.
    • He admitted in an AMA on reddit that he was going to do a playthrough of The Sims 3, but never got round to it.
    • Given the ending of the 100th episode of Skyrim, it is clear that Sips had planned to do more with the game, but he felt that it was best to end things then.
  • Word of God: After Sips changed his channel so as to remove the Yogscast branding, people assumed he'd quit or been fired. He had to reassure fans this wasn't the case.
  • Why the Fandom Can't Have Nice Things:
    • Sips uses Reddit primarily to interact with the fandom, as opposed to the comments on YouTube, in part due to the copious number of stupid comments and spam. While he does use the comments on occasion, the generally cluttered format means he prefers Reddit.
    • Even his subreddit isn't immune from time to time. After an overwhelming Vocal Minority started to complain about his Garry's Mod content, Sips took a short but notable break.

Unrelated Trivia

  • Sips's favourite hobby, when not playing games, is model train sets.
