Trivia / Quinton Reviews

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: His "Virtual Vidcon 2020" video is loaded with Youtubers from all walks of internet life.
  • Approval of God:
    • Lucas Cruikshank reached out to Quinton and thanked him for his Fallen Titans video on Fred.
    • Matt Bennett (the actor who portrays Robbie in Victorious) is a fan of the Victorious videos and had actually invited Quinton to a rave he hosted and was interviewed in the last big segment of the second Sam & Cat video.
  • Breakthrough Hit: While he was reasonably popular for a small analysis Youtuber before, his video on iCarly was his breakthrough hit, which led to future videos also being huge Door Stopper analysis videos on Nickelodeon sitcoms that have enjoyed similar success.
  • Colbert Bump: He basically gave a second life to the comic strip Jon that was no less than a prototype to Garfield, while looking for missing Gnorm Gnat strips.
  • Creator's Apathy: Some Fallen Titans episodes straight up end with Quinton admitting that he doesn't care all that much about the things that are being covered.
  • Creator Backlash: He does not look favorably on his Fallen Titan videos, feeling that he released them too quickly without doing enough research on the subjects he was discussing. He was also unhappy with the fact that the genre of discussing controversial figures and topics began trending towards creators needing to visit what he referred to as "death-cult doxxing websites" in order to get the research needed for videos. The only ones he likes are the ones covering Fred, Tobuscus and Filthy Frank, as well as gag videos such as Sargon of Akkad.note
  • Creator Breakdown: While he doesn't go into the specifics of exactly what happened, Quinton mentioned in his The Scandal of Sam & Cat episode that 2022 had been the worst year of his life and that he was suffering from depression. Because of that he ended up missing his deadline of when he wanted to post his analysis of Sam & Cat.note
  • Distanced from Current Events: Quinton delayed “We Don’t Talk About Dan Schneider” by a few weeks to account for new information released in the docuseries Quiet on Set about the toxic environment of Schneider's shows, including acting coach Brian Peck repeatedly sexually abusing an underage Drake Bell. He also considered scrapping his Grow Up, Timmy Turner! re-review, which starred Drake Bell, but eventually released it anyway.
  • Flip-Flop of God: Quinton often can't make up his mind on what exactly Fallen Titans is meant to be. Some episodes are straightforward retrospectives on the subjects' histories, height of popularity, and eventual downfall. Others are vaguely Quinton talking about his own personal relationship with the subjects with little to no actual research given into the history or context. Some of the subjects are even things Quinton admits he doesn't actually care about.
  • Follow the Leader: Quinton's made it known that he was originally inspired by Channel Awesome style of review videos before the site and Doug Walker became a Broken Pedestal for him. Nowadays, it's easy to compare Quinton's more recent commentary/analysis videos to the likes of Lindsay Ellis and other similar video essay channels.
  • Role Reprise: During the “Gibby!” recreation in "The Scandal of Sam & Cat", Tim Russ plays Principal Franklin via Cameo.
  • Troubled Production: The iCarly retrospective was originally envisioned as a single video analyzing the series as a whole, but a couple of factors changed this plan:
    • The most notable and influential one was the announcement of the revival, which hadn't been officially announced when Quinton started making the video. Realising that he now had a deadline since there would be no better time to release an iCarly video than when the revival premiered, he quickly decided that he had to cut the video into two halves, delineated between the first three "Golden Age" seasons and the latter three seasons. This gave each video time to breathe and make all the points he wanted to make, which is good because...
    • As Quinton was writing down notes he quickly realised that the idea of a short* video analysing iCarly would just not do it justice, since the evolution of the series from when it started to when it ended was a fascinating topic that couldn't be properly explored with a shorter video.
    • Quinton mentioned in the first video that it was often mentally exhausting to watch so much iCarly in a short span of time while still being able to provide anything resembling good analysis, so he ended up taking longer than he thought he would to get through the series.
    • At the end of his Scandal of Sam & Cat video Quinton reveals that he had originally intended to wrap up the series by the time August 2022 had rolled around, since the second video was going to focus on Jennette McCurdy's real life struggles during her acting career, with him planning to plug her autobiography at the end of the episode for his fans to pre-order. However due to various real life struggles Quinton wasn't able to post the first video until after her book had already been released, making him feel guilty that he might be profiting of her trauma with his review series.
    • Quinton spent years working on a review of the live action The Fairly OddParents! trilogy, with it being filled with harsh jokes and critiques towards Drake Bell, who had admitted in 2021 to inappropriate behavior towards a minor. However, in 2024, Drake Bell revealed that he had been sexually assaulted by a dialogue coach in his early years of working at Nickelodeon. This caused Quinton to indefinitely shelve the review he as he no longer felt comfortable with making jokes about Bell's legal issues and worried that the video would outrage his fans. He even considered deleting it outright despite the video being eighty percent completed. He ultimately released it on March 30th, 2024, under the title "The Timmy Turner Movies (A Fairly Odd Saga)".
  • Tyop on the Cover: For a while, his video on Pawn Stars was titled "The Bizzare Culture of Pawn Stars". Quinton was aware of the mistake, but couldn't immediately fix it because it would lead to YouTube no longer promoting the video. After enough time passed, he eventually fixed the typo.
