• Actor-Inspired Element: Sandra Bullock suggested Linda be pregnant at the end of the film.
• Enforced Method Acting: As the film was shot in continuity, Sandra Bullock would begin each day with the crew telling her how much her character knew at this point in the scene.
• Fake American: Julian McMahon is Australian, playing the American Jim.
• Playing with Character Type: Julian McMahon typically played bad boys or villains and, while he isn't the most morally pure character in this, he and his wife have to work through their issues.
• Real Life Writes the Plot: The film was going to be shot and set in New Orleans. But Hurricane Katrina led to the location being changed.
• Similarly Named Works: Many, many people thought this film was a remake to the J-Horror film Yogen, which is also called 'Premonition' in English-speaking countries.
• Star-Derailing Role: While the film turned a profit financially, its horrible critical reviews (a ghastly 8% on Rotten Tomatoes) coupled with the failures of Prisoner and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer the same year killed the leading man hype surrounding Julian McMahon (who was even being touted as a potential James Bond before Daniel Craig was chosen). Television has been kinder to him, with Nip/Tuck and Runaways (2017). Sandra Bullock escaped unscathed however, with her next film The Proposal being her biggest commercial hit and winning an Oscar for The Blind Side.
• Throw It In!: Sandra Bullock actually cut herself while she was being restrained in the hospital. So there was no need for a body double to get the Tetanus shot in the scene - and Sandra just did it herself.
• Underage Casting: Kate Nelligan is only thirteen years older than Sandra Bullock, despite playing her mother.
• What Could Have Been: The original script had Linda saving Jim from the accident. Finding that "too Hollywood", they changed it to have Jim die in order to surprise the audience.
