  • Approval of God: Kasey Ozymy voiced approval for the Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass video.
  • Colbert Bump: Many of the games that James has featured were pretty obscure before he talked about them, but became very popular and talked about soon after. Some, such as Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and Voodoo Vince, have even been remade and remastered on more current systems.
  • Corpsing: While reviewing Plok, he can't help but laugh at Plok saying "I've been diddled again!"
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: During his video on Rayman 2: The Great Escape, he repeats the Common Knowledge that Tonic Trouble was made to test an engine for a 3D platformer. For what it's worth, he corrects himself during his review on the latter game.
  • Creator Backlash: He came to view his original review of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger as a letdown, feeling it was too hard on the game. When the HD remaster came out on Nintendo Switch, he used it as an opportunity to re-review the game to rectify this. Further done for the Updated Re-release of the sequel, Bush Rescue.
  • Missing Episode
    • His video on Heartbeat was made private after the lead developer behind the game made some very controversial remarks that went public.
    • Not an entire video, but his video on Bubsy 3D, starting from December 2020, is missing a segment talking about Rob Paulsen's voice in the 8th generation Bubsy games, comparing it to Vic Mignogna's. This is due to the recent allegations on the latter. Even if that wasn't the case, it's later revealed that Vic wasn't the voice to Bubsy in the recent games, but rather Doug Erholtz. So it wouldn't matter as the information would've been outdated by that point.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Many viewers tend to take note of just how good the camerawork and lighting of the show tends to be a cut above most other YouTube shows in the same vein. The reason why is that before the show even existed, James was actually a film student, and by his own admission, the quality of his filming and editing, and his in-depth knowledge of filming techniques, he was was very, very passionate about the art. Unfortunately, he happened to graduate from College right as a major tax credit for filming was eliminated, meaning his field of employment was all but erased the moment he got his diploma. Fortunately, he was able to use his skills to create the show, but the show itself may not have existed if not for the above.
    • In late 2022, James was toying with the idea of changing the name of his channel, feeling that the name “Nitro Rad” was too juvenile and no longer fit the type of games James now covered on his channel. “James Games” was the frontrunner in James' list of potential new channel names before deciding to scrap the idea. The rebrand was scrapped due to fans expressing their fondness for the Nitro Rad name and fears that a rebrand could disrupt James' place in the YouTube algorithm.
