Trivia / Lucky Luke: Ballad of the Daltons

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In French, Roger Carel voiced Mathias Bones, Ming Li Foo, the newspaper boy and Juan, among others.
  • Creator-Driven Successor: Of The Twelve Tasks of Asterix, directed by the same animation studio and again with René Goscinny as the script writer. Just like Asterix and Obelix, the Daltons have to fulfill several tasks to reach a certain goal.
  • Creator Killer: Studios Idéfix didn't survive the death of Goscinny in the final stages of production of this film. It had only produced twi films, The Twelve Tasks of Asterix and this one.
  • Descended Creator: René Goscinny, who co-directed and co-wrote this movie in addition to writing several of the Lucky Luke comics and directing and co-writing Daisy Town, also voiced Jolly Jumper here.
  • Died During Production: Goscinny died when the film still had some finishing touches ongoing.
  • Dueling Dubs:
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Swedish dub has only ever been released on VHS, with roughly 15 seconds of content cut due to violence and scary imagery. As such, the Swedish dub has never had an official release on DVD and Bluray since it cannot be synched up with the unaltered footage. Fanmade edits exists on the internet, but unless the distributors of the Swedish dub are willing to either add in the missing scenes (which would necessate casting new actors for some of the characters to fill in for voice actors have sadly passed away or retired) or redub the entire movie, it's unlikely the movie will be made legally available in Sweden.
  • The Other Darrin: In Daisy Town, Lucky Luke, Jolly Jumper, and Jack Dalton were voiced by Marcel Bozzuffi, Jean Berger, and Jacques Jouanneau respectively. Here, they are instead voiced by Daniel Ceccaldi, René Goscinny, and Gérard Hernandez, again respectively.
  • Posthumous Credit: Goscinny passed away when the film was almost done. The only scene left to be animated after his death was the scene where the Daltons are doing the Shout-Out to Singin' in the Rain during the Disney Acid Sequence. Goscinny later received posthumous screenwriting credits in the Lucky Luke animated series.
  • Role Reprise: In French, there are several reprises from Daisy Town:
  • Self-Adaptation: Morris and René Goscinny co-directed this film. And Goscinny wrote it.
