Artistic License – History: Mark Wahlberg is 5'7" and left-handed. Marcus Luttrell (who also appears in the movie) is 6'8" and right-handed. Luttrell stated that he considered these differences, and Wahlberg's pronounced Bostonian accent (Luttrel is very proudly Texan) to be Acceptable Breaks from Reality.
Lutrell's account and the movie make the opposing force be a small army who the squad kill dozens of, but in reality they were estimated as many as twenty and as little as eight, who suffered zero known casualties.
