Trivia / Kane Pixels' The Backrooms

Go To

  • Based on a Dream: Kane has mentioned that his rendition of the Poolrooms, among other scenes, is primarily inspired by dreams he had of similar spaces as opposed to the Jared Pike iteration of the Poolrooms. Kane Pixels discusses this and more during a live stream of him playing a Backrooms-inspired game called The Complex: Found Footage.
  • Follow the Leader: Many other YouTube imitators have created Backrooms videos with a very similar visual style to Kane's, some also featuring ASYNC, the wire entities/Bacteria, and the Hazmat-suited figures so prominent in the series. Kane himself has mixed feelings on this.
It's peeking into the YouTube Kids territory of YouTube a bit there, which is a bit concerning [...] I think it goes without saying that, kids on the internet, it's totally forgivable, we were all there at one point, but it— Once you're a bit older, you start to see how, uh... kind of annoying it can become when it sort of... almost feels like your work is being appropriated, in a way?
  • The Merch: ASYNC logo merchandise is the main attraction. There is notably a backpack in the signature sickly yellow hue and featuring the company logo boldly on the front. Canvas prints of the Bacteria and the Threshold portal have also been featured, with the former providing the name of the sinister entity.
  • Sleeper Hit: Kane Parsons mentioned during his livestream of him playing The Complex, that he presumed his "Found Footage" would be a modest success. To his surprise, the video became very viral and kicked off the start of an entire series, and provided the opportunity for him to direct a Hollywood movie based on said series.
