Headscratchers / Kane Pixels' The Backrooms

Go To

  • What sucked the camerawoman into the Backrooms in Found Footage #2? It seems like a monster suddenly pulled the tape measure, but then she arrives and it's deserted.
    • Perhaps the backrooms has Anti-True Sight capabilities, and reacts unhappily to any attempt to measure or record it? There has to be some reason ASYNC stopped investigating it.
    • Another possibility is the two realities doing an "error correction" to resolve an error being detected. Pulling the camerawoman into the Backrooms may have been like a video game detecting a player stuck in a game world object and moving the player to a valid spot to correct the glitch.
    • It's also possible that it was an unintended side effect of an object that was in both normal and A-Space at the same time, causing the gap in reality to widen. Note that when she was yanked through, the camera operator was pulled in alongside several other objects that were around her.
  • If researchers and construction teams in the backrooms are perfectly fine wearing normal clothes, and Mark Blume's suit in Reunion doesn't have the outer layer anymore, why are the others still wearing full Level A Hazmat suits?
    • It's probably a good safety procedure to continue wearing appropriate clothing while in the Backrooms. The other world is still most likely still very much unexplored and it's common sense to be safe than sorry.
    • For Mark, it might be Rule of Cool to mark him as a lead character while invoking the Gas Mask Mook trope. As for the business-casual scientists, there was some chatting among the trio about some readings being good but it being best to keep masks on just to be safe. This is perhaps a sign of safety getting lax with the employees from the ambitions to commercialize this dimension. Marvin also seems to mention about "updating my preferences" due to him finding the mask too difficult to work with for his vision.
  • If the Bacteria monsters are easily capable of tracking down humans, how did Peter survive? It's established he didn't have any ASYNC help, and all the broken landscape around his area suggests he isn't constantly on the move. The two victims from the Found Footage videos barely lasted a few hours, but it's implied Peter was there for at least a few weeks. Shouldn't the bacteria have discovered and killed Peter already?
    • It maybe has to do with Peter being a trained employee who has been trained to not panic if lost or separated and may have had the foresight not to make a loud racket if an unknown predator was lurking about. Maybe he set up a base camp in a well hidden location and learned to stay still when he heard a Bacteria roaming nearby. If he was indeed responsible for the writing on the walls around The Complex, he may have logged this finding by mustering what sanity he had remaining, judging by the scrawling in Found Footage looking like it's from someone desperate to see sunlight again.
    • It is possible that the Bacteria don't kill humans. We don't see what happens to the first survivor after getting grabbed, and it could be that the Bacteria was merely curious and let him go afterward.
    • While things have seemingly changed by the time the protagonists of Found Footage 1 and 2 got trapped, ASYNC only had one confirmed encounter with a bacteria at that point in the timeline, even with constant surveillance and regular expeditions into the backrooms.
