Trivia / it feels more like a memory

Go To

  • Adaptation Sequence: Historical events → historians’ interpretations of those events, including Ron Chernow’s → Hamilton, mostly based off of Chernow’s interpretation of the historical events → it feels more like a memory
  • Approval of God: The author expresses their approval of a fan work of it feels more like a memory, IFMLAM musical, round 2, in a comment they left on the work. They also approve of the idea of Alternate Universe Fic of their fanfiction at the end of this comment.
  • Based on a Dream: Eliza’s POV section in chapter 24 is based off of a dream the author’s sister had after being told the plot of the fic, where she was Eliza, according to this comment.
  • Inspiration for the Work: According to Word of God on the author's tumblr corroborated by a reply to a comment on the fic here, they got a strong impression from Leslie Odom Jr.'s performance as Aaron Burr in Hamilton that Aaron Burr knew how the musical ended, and could not do anything to change the events from happening the way he was supposed to narrate them, even though he wanted to. They wanted to figure out how to reproduce that sense of fast-approaching doom caused by his dual role as narrator and character, but in a written medium, and came up with the idea of Seers and Aaron Burr being able to see peoples' deaths. And thus this fic was born!
  • Magnum Opus Dissonance: The author talks about this phenomenon as it applies to their work in several tumblr posts, including this, this, and in the tags of this. They're much more invested in their original works than this fanfiction, feel their original works are much higher-quality than this fanfiction, and have noticed many more people are invested in this fanfiction than in their original works.
  • Series Hiatus: A semi-hiatus in that they haven't stopped writing it but progress would be very slow, and although it's been updated afterwards it's still in a semi-hiatus.
  • Tuckerization: Angie Burr calling her aunt Angelica “Auntjelica” comes from the author’s use of “Auntjelica” for their own aunt named Angelica.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • This comment thread shows there could have been a scene or ficlet where Aaron shakes Gouverneurnote  Morris’ hand and sees that he dies from a urinary tract infection from putting a whalebone from his wife’s corset up his urethra. 2020 has ended and there is still no ficlet or scene with that, so it’s likely What Could Have Been unless it’s included in later chapters when the hiatus is over.
    • The author lists out different ideas they had for this story in this comment thread.
      • Magic could have existed, and Seers’ “spot” in magic would have been less defined than other magics. Because of that, Seers would need to pass tests and be officially confirmed before being granted the title of Seer. This is where the idea of passing tests and being officially confirmed before being deemed a Seer came from.
      • Seers could have always been women. This idea could have gone one of two ways depending on who’s the Seer, Aaron or Alexander. Because Seers were always women, it’s strange for the male Aaron Burr to be a seer, or a trans Alexander Hamilton tries to hide his Seer status despite desperately wanting to use his powers to help with the Revolutionary War, because admitting to being a Seer would reveal he was assigned female at birth which might get him kicked out of the army.
      • Both Hamilton and Burr would have been Seers, with Hamilton’s powers manifesting as a gut feeling about things that will succeed. Hamilton’s abilities focus on hope and life, Burr’s on death.
  • Word of God: Found in posts tagged with "ifmlam" on the author's tumblr, and the comments and the author's notes after the end of chapters for both it feels more like a memory and the work that contains its musical adaptation, Burr: An American Musical. The latter work is purely Word of God in the first and fourth chapter! It's the second and third chapters that have the actual musical. Hamilton also has some Word of God.
