This work shares a name with the real-life hit 2015 musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda over at Hamilton. This page is about a specific fanwork of that musical. If you're looking for the usual fan work-related pages for the real-life Hamilton musical, its Fanfic Recs page is here and its Fan Works page is here.

Hamilton exists in the world of savrenim's fanfiction it feels more like a memory, which is fanfiction of the real-life musical over at Hamilton. In-Universe, Hamilton is a hit musical. Out of universe, it’s a synopsis. It can be found on savrenim's tumblr (mirror) along with some Word of God about the musical and about events in it feels more like a memory that this musical was based off of. It‘s based on chapters 7–27 of it feels more like a memory long after everyone in the fic had died and the events in the fic became historical ones In-Universe.

Because it can barely be discussed without spoiling chapters 7–27 of it feels more like a memory, every page about it leaves spoilers up to chapter 27 of it feels more like a memory unspoilered, so it's recommended you read up to those chapters before browsing this fic's trope pages.

Hamilton contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Personality Change: It’s unclear whether this is because the In-Universe historians’ interpretation of second-timeline Eliza is off, or if the historians accurately judged Eliza and the In-Universe musical creator just took artistic license with her personality, but either way this musical’s Eliza is always pushing Aaron to be more involved with politics. The actual second-timeline Eliza is content with his level of political activity. The only thing she says that shows any amount of discontent with his career is when Aaron says “we need a bigger house” in reference to them frequently having guests over and she says he should become a famous lawyer and earn one. And that’s probably a joke. It’s possible she was quietly dissatisfied, and maybe it played into her cheating with Alexander in the second timeline, but she was never actively pushy with Aaron about politics the way her musical incarnation is.
  • Adapted Out: Maria Reynolds. Justified Trope as she doesn't impact much in the second timeline. The Aaron of the second timeline handles her divorce case and knew how she impacted Alexander's legacy in the first timeline, but he's the only one with knowledge of the first timeline unless he shares it with others, and he has no idea if she becomes relevant in future timelines. So unless he wrote down what happened in the first timeline and the records survived, second-timeline historians would not know anything about her relevance and so it'd be easy to take her for just another divorce case Aaron handled and omit her from all but the most detailed accounts of his life.
  • All Musicals Are Adaptations: In-Universe, it’s a musical adaptation of historical events. Out of universe, it’s a musical adaptation of the events of chapter 7–27 of the fanfiction it feels more like a memory.
  • All There in the Manual: Includes canon details that didn’t make it to it feels more like a memory: how people in 21st century of this timeline interpret the events of the life Aaron lived in this timeline, the musicals’ production and reception, and other details relevant to the characters and events of ifmlam's second timeline.
  • Ambiguously Bi / Ambiguously Gay: Since In-Universe there’s lots of historical debate over Aaron and Alexander’s sexualities, mostly about if they were in a relationship, the In-Universe musical creators intentionally kept it vague whether Aaron and Alexander were involved in this musical. They're clearly shown as close to each other and there are some throwaway lines that only imply they were a thing. The tumblr post doesn't make it clear whether Aaron and/or Alexander were clearly portrayed as (not) attracted to women in the musical, only that male/male attraction was left vague for both of them, so it's unclear which of Ambiguously Bi or Ambiguously Gay applies, but at least one of them definitely does.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Since In-Universe it’s debated whether Aaron knew Alexander was the biological father of Aaron’s children, the In-Universe musical creators kept it vague whether Aaron knew (and specifically arranged that to happen) or not, offering lines like “we were a family” that leave room for either interpretation. It’s also debated whether they were lovers, so the musical leaves it up to interpretation whether Aaron and Alexander were together in the Revolutionary War, neither refuting nor confirming it, only implying it in throwaway lines.
  • Bait-and-Switch: There’s a dream sequence that looks very similar to the “The World Was Wide Enough” in the real-life Hamilton musical that implies Aaron is shooting Alexander. Right after he yells “wait” (this is after his gun goes off in both the real-life musical and the fanfiction, so presumably that happens in this musical too), this sequence ends to show that he’s clearly not shooting anyone. Right after that’s been established, he gets the news that someone else shot Alexander.
  • Based on a True Story: It’s based on the In-Universe historical events of the Seer Aaron Burr’s life.
  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: Not In-Universe, since In-Universe it’s historical fact that Aaron Burr was the Seer, but out of universe? Absolutely.
  • Biopic: A musical dramatizing most of second-timeline Aaron Burr’s life, who’s a famous historical figure In-Universe. Ends with his death.
  • Can't Move While Being Watched: Part of how Aaron’s visions of the future are represented onstage. When he’s having a vision, things move when his back is turned, and stop moving when he looks at them.
  • Different World, Different Movies: This is the second timeline of it feels more like a memory's equivalent to the real-life Hamilton musical, with different events depicted since the In-Universe historical events differ from those in real life.
  • Fanon: The fans of this musical who exist In-Universe, in the it feels more like a memory world where this musical is based on actual historical fact that includes "Aaron Burr was the Seer" as a fact, have a general fan consensus. Alexander's appearance onstage after he dies isn't him "on the other side" akin to the real musical's Alexander seeing Laurens, Philip, his mother, and Washington "on the other side," and isn't a ghost. It's Aaron's version of Alexander in his head, and a representation of how his refusal to let go of Alexander drives him to his death.
  • Foil: Actually described as such: "Alexander, meanwhile, ever [Aaron's] foil." Cautious and withdrawn Aaron is juxtaposed with passionate and ambitious Alexander. As Aaron becomes increasingly internally paranoid, Alexander becomes increasingly externally paranoid. The contrast between those traits further emphasizes those traits.
  • Foreshadowing: The seemingly-nonsensical visions Alexander yanks Aaron out of in the second act have people standing and moving in the exact same way they will move in future scenes. Overlaps with Futureshadowing since the audience sees this future event before it occurs in the musical.
  • Historical Domain Character: Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Philip Burr (genetically the same person as the real-life Philip Hamilton, allowing him to count as a Historical Domain Character out of universe where there was no Philip Burr as well as In-Universe where there was a Philip Burr), Angelica Schuyler, and Elizabeth Schuyler are the ones specifically mentioned. They're historical figures both In-Universe and out of universe.
  • Historical Domain Superperson: Aaron Burr, Seer.
  • Marriage of Convenience: Angelica’s marriage, and what she fears Eliza is entering into by marrying Aaron Burr.
  • Narrator: Alexander Hamilton narrates most of the show, and James Madison takes over narrating for a few songs about politics.
  • Recycled Title: The musical this fanfiction is based off of is titled Hamilton. Aaron's second lifetime has a musical dedicated to it In-Universe, which is also titled Hamilton, and made by the same people who made the real-life Hamilton. It's not Similarly Named Works since that requires the works be completely unrelated aside from the name, and this is a derivative work of the derivative work it feels more like a memory which is derived from the real-life musical Hamilton. It's not In Name Only either, even though that's for derivative works, since it'd have to be able to stand alone as an original work with nobody being able to identify the source material if only a few minor changes were made like the title and character names, and this is clearly a derivative of the real Hamiltonnote . Recycled Title seems to be the best fitnote .
  • Seers: Aaron Burr.
  • Sidelong Glance Biopic: An In-Universe Biopic about Aaron Burr, but told from Alexander Hamilton’s perspective, at least until Alexander dies near the end of the show.
  • Show Within a Show: This musical exists within the universe of the fanfiction it feels more like a memory. Burr: An American Musical. In-Universe, people wrote fanfic of that musical, with the In-Universe savrenim of the third timeline writing if there's a reason.
  • A True Story in My Universe: The events in the second timeline it feels more like a memory, which aren’t historical events in real life (or are at least severely changed up Alternate History versions of real life historical events), became historical events that this musical tries to portray accurately In-Universe.
  • Vicariously Ambitious: Eliza, who’s always pushing Aaron to be more involved in politics.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Aaron and James Madison's friendship and its subsequent disintegration from the second timeline makes it to the musical.
