Trivia / InvestiGators

Go To

  • Acting for Two: Matthew Curtis voices Mango, Brash, Sven Septapus and the narrator in the animated shorts.
    • Luis Bermudez voices Crackerdile and Agent Six.
  • Completely Different Title: The spanish versions have Volume One changed to Agents with Many Teeth, Take the Plunge is instead Head to the Toilet, Off the Hook became See you later, Crocodile, and Ants in Our P.A.N.T.S. is Ants vs. Robots., Some of these titles make better sense in Spanish, by having their own puns to them.
    • Dutch version has the series title changed to Crocodile Detectives.
  • Line to God: John Patrick Green has a Twitter and Instagram where he'd answer a few fan questions and leave likes & comments on fanart of his works.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: In one of the book trailers, it shows Mango disarming the rocket in Take the Plunge with his trombone. However, in the actual book it was Brash who had pushed a red button to disarm it.
  • Official Fan-Submitted Content: Macmillan held an Invent a V.E.S.T. contest where kids could submit a gadget idea to be featured in a future book. It ended up being the Scent Detector submitted by Clara from Grand Junction, Colorado which was shown at the end of Off the Hook and briefly mentioned in Braver and Boulder.
  • What Could Have Been: Initially the Gators were a Power Trio but John couldn't think of a unique third chin shape.
    • Cilantro would've been a green chameleon but since the Gators were already green he changed her to a bright orange. She was also conceptualized as an antagonist early on.
    • Take the Plunge and Off the Hook had different titles, being Plumb and Plumber and If Hooks Could Thrill respectively. They were changed after Volume One was published.
    • There was a joke in Ants in Our P.A.N.T.S. where Houdino would zap a post office with the Embiggener ray and say "That's what I call mail enhancement!"
    • There was a The Great British Bake Off reference where a baker character comments on how the cookie dough is soft and moist but it was cut by the editor for sounding suggestive.
    • InvestiGators was originally pitched as 5 books but John didn't have a specific ending in mind. This can be seen with the way book 5 gives a conclusion to the Crackerdile story arc that began with the first book.
    • Mango and Cilantro would've been adversaries as John had their names contrast each other, but this was later scrapped and the two were instead good friends.
  • Word of God: Brash likes traditional pizza toppings but isn't very picky, Mango would eat any type of pizza but prefers leftover pizza with chunky blue cheese dressing.
    • If there were a robot version of Mango (similar to RoboBrash), he would be a darker green and likely call himself Mangobot.
    • John has mentioned that Mango lived in the suburbs as a kid.
