- Follow the Leader: The books were published at the height of The Twilight Saga's popularity and they bear a number of similarities (including First Person Narrative, forbidden romance, vampires and teenaged protagonists).
- What Could Have Been: In an interview to promote Hourglass, Claudia Gray stated she had "many more ideas for more Evernight books" after the initial four books were written, though outside of the main series the only other Evernight novel that's been published is one focusing on Balthazar. Gray has since stated she considers the Evernight series "complete", though she has toyed with the idea of writing more about Balthazar and Skye.
- Write What You Know:
- In her biography page in the Evernight books and on her website, Claudia Gray states she once worked as "an extremely poor waitress", which inspired the part in Hourglass where Bianca has a brief, disastrous stint as a waitress in a diner.
- Gray has stated in interviews that she grew up in small town and attended a small high school, which is true of both Bianca and Skye as well.
