- In Hourglass, Ranulf beheads a vampire who is attacking them, prompting Bianca to scream in shock. Ranulf simply frowns at her and says "Screaming is not helpful." Made even funnier due to the fact that Bianca is a wraith now, and the vampire can't actually hurt her.
- In Stargazer, Balthazar is having a serious discussion with Bianca about the hauntings at Evernight and criticises her naivety about wraiths, asking if she thought they were like Casper. He then frowns and asks “They still have Casper cartoons, right?” (Bianca vaguely states “I think they had a movie…”)
- Mr Yee trying desperately to explain how iPods work to Ranulf, before giving up and putting his head on his desk in despair.
- At the end of Balthazar, Charity, attempting to seem like a normal human teenager, blurts out the first thing she can think of: “I love Justin Bieber”. It not only comes completely out of left field, but the very idea of Charity More being a Belieber is hilarious.
