- Franchise Killer: Downplayed. Two sequels were planned after the success of the first one, and while this one was still a good movie and didn't bomb, per se, it was not a huge success. And by that point, Sony already had a Cash-Cow Franchise with the Hotel Transylvania films, so plans for a third film were dropped in favor of a TV show.
- Kids' Meal Toy:
- Subway had a set of six reusable bags as a tie-in with the film's theatrical release.
- Carl's Jr. and Hardee's had a set of four toys as a tie-in with the film's Blu-ray and DVD release. There was a pull-back Cheesespider, a barrel of Shrimpanzees, a set of dominoes, and a Buttertoad game.
- The Other Darrin:
- Earl is played by Terry Crews rather than Mr. T in this film.
- Bridget Hoffman also takes over as young Flint, instead of Max Neuwirth from the first film.
