  • Creator Backlash: Steven Soderbergh has said if he had to do it all over again, he wouldn't have made the movie, as he doesn't think it was worth the struggle.
  • Fake Nationality:
  • What Could Have Been: Terrence Malick was originally going to make the film, and it was only going to be about Che's time in Bolivia.
    • During production, Soderbergh said that if the film made at least $100 million at the box office, he would follow up the project with an interquel showing Che in the Congo.
  • As part of the film's international release, Benecio del Toro introduced the film's Cuban premiere at Havana's Karl Marx Theater. The film received a ten-minute standing ovation from the audience, many of whom were old enough to have fought alongside Che in the revolution, and the Communist Party's newspaper Granma gave the film a glowing review.
