- Playing Against Type: Invoked by the director of the first run of the play, who cast recognisable actors in order to shock the audience with their characters' actions:
- Calista Flockhart was of course known as a plucky lawyer on Ally McBeal, making it quite a shock when her character reveals she murdered her son just to hurt his father.
- Paul Rudd, Plucky Comic Relief in everything, as a Jerk Jock who beat a gay man to death.
- Ron Eldard was best known as a love interest on ER or Men Behaving Badly, as a businessman who murdered his baby daughter.
