  • Izuku's history with his father. It's clear that Bakugo isn't the only person causing trouble to Deku's self-esteem in this continuity.
  • Izuku admits to Himiko his real hang-up concerning his feelings for Ochako: he's convinced that no one besides his mother could actually love him, thinking platonic friendship is a miracle on its own. Himiko's left honestly horrified at the realization.
  • Izuku finally learns that Ochako loves him... in a context that gives him the wrong impression. He's left thinking he's just a distraction to her before Himiko and Ochako and talk him out of the idea.
  • Inko's Backstory:
    • Her parents died at a young age, leaving her an orphan in an island community that's superstitious of orphans. The only people close to her are her fellow orphans, none of her are any older than her.
    • Her home island is ravaged by a corrupt mining corporation, ruining its environment in a few short years.
    • Her friend Sakura dies from a drug overdose. Not only is her death a tragedy, but so is the context behind it: one of Inko's closest friends was so traumatized by the fight against Sytsevich that she indulged in worse and worse illicit substances just to sleep at night without seeing him, for two years, and none of the group noticed! Until it was too late.
    • Ultimately, the fight for the island was All for Nothing. The mining corp damaged the core of the island so severely that, following a devastating hurricane, Inko's childhood home is reduced to a small scrap of land just barely sticking out of the ocean.
    • The HPSC sends Lady Nagant to kill anyone on the island who refuses to evacuate from the storm, not wanting them to potentially become a second Meta Liberation Army. Inko finds her remaining friends and neighbors (minus Hisashi) massacred in the town hall, with Nagant coldly dismissing them as criminals.
    • The Midoriyas don't get much better after moving to the mainland. Though they avoid the Commission's radar and (after meeting the Bakugos) eventually recover enough to actually live (leading to Izuku), it's already a given that Inko's relationship with 'Barkhead' eventually sours, with him turning emotionally abusive towards his family and finding the real Meta Liberation Army.
  • Melissa's Backstory; she initially grew up Quirkless, only to discover she has a powerful Quirk the government is determined to have work for them. Even after that gets (mostly) resolved, the fact remains that (in a reverse of All Might's problem) she only has a limited amount of time before she'll be unable to maintain her 'normal' form. She's painfully aware of the fact that her life as an ordinary inventor is coming to an end, and the best she can do is try and hold onto it for as long as possible.
  • After Himiko's First Kiss with Tsuyu, she sneaks into Ochako's home to speak - because she's terrified of how to deal with a situation that she most certainly didn't expect.
  • When Inko learns from Shigaraki that he intends to kill Izuku no matter what, she grabs one of Himiko's knives and stabs him in the gut - and Shigaraki manages to use Decay on her neck before being thrown away. Himiko can only hold her head on her lap and listen to Inko's whispered last words before she fades away, with Himiko screaming in despair.
  • Eri seeing the blood causes her to flash back to all the stuff Overhaul did to her, and ends up triggering an intense storm of energy while screaming in pain.
  • Izuku doesn't see his mother until after Eri heals her, but he still sees the pool of blood left behind and hears enough that his anger issues flare up, causing him to snap back at All Might, Bakugo, and Himiko over how close Inko came to death before running out of the hospital, too focused on the idea of just killing Shigaraki to realize where he's going or what he would do.
