  • Shortly after the beginning of the game, Mei's father, Juno, is brought back to Rim Elm dead. Juno is currently the only blood relative living together with Mei in Rim Elm, which is why the village elder asks Vahn to find Mei's mother, Maya, at Biron Monastery. For years, Maya remains there because the Mist prevents her from returning to Rim Elm.
    • During the funeral, a grieving Mei runs after her father's coffin that is being carried by the waves to somewhere far away. Then there is a child asking his mother if Juno will ever return again.
  • Hari's death. He foresees his death, but tells no one about it. As his residence collapses into the abyss below, there is a shot of the nuns near him falling into despair and accepting death...
  • In Ratayu, there is a house where you can check the cabinet for a painting of a couple and their three daughters. The parents say that their daughters are long gone, taken away by Saryu to be Seru Brides.
Mother: Saryu took all three of them... Fin, Fow and Fem. I asked the castle guards after the Mist cleared, but they didn't know if my daughters were alive.
Father: I know my daughters won't come back. I'm not even sure if they have any life force left in them...
    • Eliza, who is about to be taken away as a Seru Bride, has pretty much given up on everything because if she disobeys, Saryu may hurt and even kill her parents. She asks the Ra-Seru Heroes to check on her parents when she is gone. Luckily, the heroes save her from that fate.
  • Noa. When Conkram fell to the Mist, she was still a baby and got sent away by her mother for safety. She landed safely at Mt Rikuroa, though the Soren carrying her died from the fall. Throughout the story, Noa dreams of her parents calling out to her and seeks them. When she does find them, her parents are both blind and fused to Conkram's Sim-Seru, and are only sane thanks to The Power of Love towards Noa.
    • And to cap it all off, just as Noa thinks destroying the Mist Generator in Absolute Fortress will return back to normal, it just does not work that way. The Ra-Seru Heroes return to a deserted hill that is supposed to be Conkram. As it turns out, with the Mist cut off, Conkram's Sim-Seru dies along with all the inhabitants fused with it, including Noa's parents. Noa is thoroughly anguished and ends up hating Terra for not telling her about it, but she cannot bring herself to fully hate her because she Hates Being Alone.
      • Noa's parents' request to destroy the Mist Generator itself, without telling the Ra-Seru Heroes the details. They are fully aware that they will die, but it is a Mercy Kill nonetheless.
    • And then her brother is the perpetrator of the whole disaster. He gleefully torments Noa too.
  • Vahn's past. When he was a kid, he overheard his father and the village elder talking about his mother's condition after giving birth to Nene: she is hemorrhaging and will not survive without Drake Water. The problem? It was too dangerous to get some because of the Mist. Vahn decided to sneak out by himself, causing panic. His father sacrificed a leg to save him, and his mother died anyway.
