General
  • While they all possess a resilience uncommon to many, there's something deeply disturbing about the fact that in this video game timeline, the Sonic characters are essentially a team of teenagers/young adults who've needed to save the world and face Apocalypse How several times over. Sonic has even lost several close friends.
Chapter 6
  • Shadow pulling no punches on Weiss and the problems of the Schnee company. And while Weiss clearly already knew the personal problems her father had, getting harsh reality slammed in her face was a kind of traumatic event when she was forced to truly confront her family's legacy.
     Grimn Investigations Arc
  • Invented for the story, a very young Faunus named Fifer (no older than Ruby) who through poverty, despair, and neglect, fell in with the White Fang.
    • Then Sonic and friends start to break through to him that he can make a new life. That he can come with them and start anew as his brothers would've wanted. He realizes that he has information to protect them, and Cinder snipes him dead to keep the secret.
  • Despite their helping to ease their burdens, much of Teams RWBY and JNPR have plenty of their own woes in the dance to think about.
    • Weiss is still working her way back to normalcy after finding out about the Schnee present, and being rejected before the dance wasn't exactly great.
    • Pyrrha has her feelings of isolation when everyone thinks she's the best and most dangerous fighter.
  • Just like in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), Knuckles lost his father and his whole tribe, having been told to stay back from their last battle. Yang seeing clear comparisons to her own family situation just makes it even more heartwrenching.
  • Ilia shows up during the Mount Glenn arc on the subway train, and her and Blake's reunion is understandably filled with bitterness towards the latter for seemingly abandoning the former. And then when it seems like Blake is getting through to the Chameleon Faunus, Metal Sonic shows up and sweeps her and Neo away.
  • Fenrir Lokson, a White Fang lieutenant, is a wolf Faunus who had his fangs ripped out. Even Ironwood can't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for him.
     Merlot Arc
  • While it was done to teach her a much-needed lesson, and was infinitely better than how her canon counterpart learned it, Knuckles' verbal and physical dismantling of Yang's overreliance on her Semblance leaves her incredibly frustrated with her new friend and has her confidence shaken. It hits even harder since it's made clear a large part of her pride comes from having to look after Ruby while their dad shut down from Summer's death, and that her strength was one of the few things she found stability in. Having it undermined by a friend, even with good intentions, rattles her to her core and she spends the rest of the chapter in a somber mood.
  • When Ren sees the mutant Deathstalker-Beowulf hybrid, he flashes back to how his village was destroyed and his parents killed by a similar being.
  • Blake reveals what happened during her last White Fang mission to Sonic, Tails, and Yang, clearly regretting what happened.
  • The Diamond Cutters still died due to Mimic's betrayal in this story. RWBY and JNPR is horrified that Mimic would betray his team like that.
  • A Mimic-droid tries to use Maria's image against Shadow, and while he's not happy about that, of course, what really ticks him off is that this implies Eggman actually gave Mimic the information on Maria, proving that he never cared about his cousin at all.
  • Blake's Mimic-droid takes the form of Adam and nearly gets the drop on her (only stopping due to Amy's interference) because the real Adam shared things that he'd never told anyone else, creating a parallel with Shadow's ordeal.
  • A Mimic robot takes the form of Ruby to berate Yang, and when the real Ruby arrives it times things so that Yang attacks her real sister thinking that she's the imposter, which she's horrified to realize.
  • Another Mimic-Bioid inflicts a Curb-Stomp Battle on Weiss while taking the form of Jacques, even using her own sword against her. It comes very close to killing her until Sonic and Jaune arrive at the last second. By the end of it Weiss is traumatized from the fight bringing up memories of the real Jacques’ abuse towards her, latching onto Sonic and begging to not let him take her from her friends.
  • A Mimic robot floats the possibility of using Nora's face to get close enough to attack Ren.
  • After RWBY gets back to their dorms, Yang breaks down in tears over what happened with Mimic.
     Vytal Festival Arc
  • When Weiss and Ruby move up in the tournament instead of Yang, Cinder plots to make Ruby their supposed murderer and scapegoat, and run Weiss's reputation through the mud.
  • When Ozpin is saying to Glynda that they need to talk to Qrow before making any decisions on inducting Sonic and company into the truth about Salem, it almost seems as if he's using that as an excuse to justify not telling them because he's afraid of what will happen.
  • Ironwood asking Qrow if his training for Ruby to one day replace Summer clearly struck a nerve to him.
  • Qrow's worries about Ruby getting involved with the fight against Salem are even worse than in canon thanks to her bond with Sonic drawing her farther into things.
  • Winter being defeated by Shadow in their sparing match, even though Ironwood assures her that she fought well, she was still ashamed of losing in front of her sister.
  • Shadow telling Ruby and Yang that Qrow can’t be trusted since he is part of Ozpin’s conspiracy.
  • The Ace-Ops mentioning how Harriet was friends with a fallen member named Tortuga, being part of the reason for her antagonistic behavior.
  • When Qrow shows Yang a picture of Team STRQ, he specifically covers Raven's face and barely mentions her. Just goes to show how much her leaving affected him.
  • Yang is clearly not happy about keeping secrets from her father because of his apparent connection to Ozpin's conspiracy.
