Shout Out / Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville

  • Mark, one of Kate's classmates, is called Mario in the original Italian dub, and he is a boy who loves to play video games. Sound familiar?
    • Not to mention that he says he loves the Super Mario games in that same dub. In the English version, however, he mentions a game called "Space Zone" instead.
  • Professor Franklin D. Puppy is mentioned in the prototype English dub by Clelia/Claudia, which gives a nod to Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  • The scene in the episode "Finally Free: Part 2" when the Pet Buster breaks into Kate’s house and both Kate and Magic set up traps around looks like something straight out of Home Alone. Albeit more harmless (for example, instead of nails, it's just thumbtacks that the Pet Buster steps on).
  • The group of Eva, Zull, and Gort draws parallels to Diesel 10 and his lackeys Splatter and Dodge from Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
    • Not to mention that the Pet Buster is somewhat similar to Diesel 10. Even his facial expressions look like him. Both of them seek a particular female character whose importance and extraordinary power is so important to them (the Pet Buster is to Ava as Diesel 10 is to Lady).
  • A cocker spaniel and mutt resembling the titular dogs from Lady and the Tramp occasionally appear in certain episodes.
  • The dynamic of Ava and Wallace as well as both of them spending time out in the streets of a large city could also be referencing Oliver and Dodger from Oliver & Company. Ava being a naive feline and Wallace being, well, the Artful Dodger.
  • The entire plot could be a subtle retelling of Alice in Wonderland, as it revolves around a girl who is accidentally beamed to a magical dimension (Kate is to Alice).
  • Holiday the rooster references Foghorn Leghorn from the all-time famous Looney Tunes.
  • Danny's proud grunt in "Frisbee" when Kate and Magic find out it was his idea to get pillows for when they teleport could give a nod to Scooby-Doo.
  • In Giochi Preziosi merchandise, the Yorkshire terrier, who is a choreographer of the Pocketville Theatre seen in episode "Nearly!", is called Amleto, the Italian version of Hamlet.
