How can help you? All we want to do is help you.top to bottom

Helpsters is a preschool show produced by Sesame Workshop for Apple TV+. It's created by Tim McKeon (Odd Squad). The show follows the Helpsters composed of Cody (Stephanie D'Abruzzo), Mr. Primm (Martin P. Robinson), Heart (Ingrid Hansen), Scatter (Tim Lagasse), and Jackie (Jennifer Barnhart). They go around helping people with their problems. The show's curriculum is teaching kids about coding, mostly through patterns and sequences. The first season of 13 episodes premiered on on November 1, 2019, while a second second season premiered on October 16, 2020. The first 7 episodes of season three were released on May 27, 2022, and the second half of the season was released on January 6, 2023.

Helpsters provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Cody has a tendency to call the other Helpsters "buddy bud" or "palsy".
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: In an interview with Tim Lagasse he confirms that Scatter has ADD, and he has trouble focusing to a point where his self-titled episode is about not being able to pay attention.
  • Ambiguous Gender: Heart never uses any gender-specific pronouns and is only referred to by name.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: In Scatter's apple bio he is described as the youngest Helpster.
  • Catchphrase: The Helpsters all have a part in their Once per Episode greeting.
Mr. Primm: Problems are our specialty! Right this way.
    Heart: Have a seat.
    Scatter: And a [Noun].
Cody: How can we help you?
    • Heart also has "I dabble" after someone compliments their paintings.
  • Couch Gag: During the opening theme, the Helpsters are always doing a different activity when Cody comes into their headquarters.
  • The Cutie: Scatter, his innocence, naivety and strange way of thinking just make him that much more endearing.
  • Edutainment Show: Given that the show is made by Sesame Workshop, this is no surprise. The show is about teaching kids coding, mainly through patterns, sequences, and repetition.
  • Eldritch Location: The Helpsters shop is this, given that it's rooms shift around at seemingly random times, doesn't seem to adhere to the laws of physics, and is MUCH Bigger on the Inside.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: "Cody Rides A Bike" is exactly that, with everyone helping Cody learn to ride her bike with everyone.
  • Heart Symbol: Heart signs their name like this.
  • Expressive Hair: Cody's pigtails pop up when she's excited.
  • Gender-Blender Name: downplayed with Cody.
  • Gentle Giant: Heart is one of the biggest characters, but true to their name, they're very sweet.
  • Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Scatter.
  • Halloween Episode: "Helpsters Halloween" involves the Helpsters trying to put together a Halloween party at the last minute when they're so busy.
  • Meaningful Name: Cody's is a reference to the shows goal of teaching kids to code, Scatter is based on his status as The Ditz, Mr. Prim is a reference to the phrase "prim and proper" and Heart is The Heart.
  • Mistakes Are Not the End of the World: In "Dancer Dave," Dave isn't sure he wants to do his dance because he might a mistake. Cody tells him that he just have to do his best and that it's okay to make mistakes, that sometimes when she "mistake a make," nobody even notices.
  • Sick Episode: "Cody Gets A Cold" is about, well, Cody getting a cold. Unlike other episodes, where she helps the Helpsters, here, she's the one who needs help.
  • Spock Speak: A Once per Episode Running Gag is that Mr. Primm states something in Spock speak to which the other Helpsters reply "Huh?", forcing him to explain it in simpler terms.
Mr. Primm: If we wish to bring Pete his present, we need to ascertain where Pete resides presently.
    Helpsters: Huh?
Mr. Primm: We need to find out where he lives, you see.
  • Strictly Formula: The general formula of each episode is somebody asking the Helpsters for help, they get into some sort of mixup, Cody helps sort everything out, and all is well.
  • Symbol Motif Clothing: All of Scatter's outfits have a treble clef on the front.
  • Team Mom: Heart is a rare gender-neutral example. They are easily the most caring and maternal of the main cast, this is especially apparent in their interactions with Scatter.
  • Two Shorts: Each episode has 2 segments of 11 minute length.
  • Wedding Episode: The episode "Nurse Nina And Farmer Flynn" is about the Helpsters helping two women named Nurse Nina and Farmer Flynn bake a cake before their wedding later in the day.
